Something in the beta forums quoting Gamesradar
"Please note: FFXIV Beta Phase 3 will end on Sunday, July 14 at 2am PST. PS3 Beta Phase 3 registration codes will expire at this time. Characters will not carry over into Beta Phase 4 and new PS3 Beta keys will be required to access Beta Phase 4."

Beta P4 is open and therefore won't require keys. This has been said multiple times on the beta forums and also throughout Yoshi's interviews. Anyone who wants to will be able to take part in P4.

This is what really caught my eye "... and new PS3 Beta keys will be required to access Beta Phase 4."
I wonder how long those will work for.

I honestly probably won't play much more of Beta 3. I don't want to get burnt out leveling characters that won't migrate.

I am the same, I have just been making characters to explore the different starting zones and do some planning for phase 4.

So if we won't require beta keys, does that mean our accounts will be active when the servers go live for P4?

I would like to know where they got this information from since it hasn't been released when the phase 3 Beta is going to end (I know that you can see the pattern in the way that the tests are going so far) and since all the information so far on phase 4 has been that it will be open. I call BS on this article.

For me it's not about carrying characters over, I just don't want to spoil the game anymore.

If Phase 4 is basically release, then I'll start back up then.

Yeah, betas are like that. For me, I want to continue to supply feedback about the game but there's that barrier that ruins it for you if you play too much. Lucky for me I haven't been able to play much at all, so more testing for me. :)

I think I'll wait and see what Wint's official word is on this.

I haven't heard anything about the end of Phase 3.

And I trust you more than I trust unsubstantiated articles on non-official sites.

well if this is true that could make the 4th phase 3 test about a week long!

Aye.. at this point I'm just using it to give some feedback in the forums and test out classes and races to really get a feel for what I want to play during P4/Early/Launch. I am incredibly indecisive about that stuff during the first month of an MMO for some reason. It took me almost a year just to stick with one job in FFXI and at least 3 months to do the same in WoW. I'm fairly certain at this point, but something may still change my mind this weekend. God help me.

Well, it's been posted in the beta forums and Hvinire (SE Community rep) even posted about the key give away. If there was any false information there, he would have made it perfectly clear.

Why would you believe what some random website says about FFXIV ARR? If it's not posted on the MAIN site then it's useless.

The post was on the beta forums and started by Hvinire himself. In case you don't know, he is an SE Community Rep. and appeared on the Square Enix channel on YouTube during E3. I seriously doubt he would start a post about a website giving out false information.

If you don't have access to the beta forums, this won't help.

I have never heard of a closed Open Beta and according to this link http://gdl.square-enix.com/ffxiv/download/en/FFXIV_2.0_BETA_Roadmap_EN.pdf Phase 4 is going to be open. So, given that, I still call BS on the "Please note: FFXIV Beta Phase 3 will end on Sunday, July 14 at 2am PST. PS3 Beta Phase 3 registration codes will expire at this time. Characters will not carry over into Beta Phase 4 and new PS3 Beta keys will be required to access Beta Phase 4."

"Open Beta" doesn't mean you won't need a beta key, it just means that anyone who applies will get one.

Do you have to apply again for P4 or should we get one automatically if we're in P3?

The way I read this is that the PS3 client for phase 3 will not work for phase 4. You'll need a new code to download the new client. I'm sure all that participated in the PS3 test will get new codes. The thing is, that the downloaded PS3 client has to expire at some point or SE will lose out on many sales of the PS3 version on disk. This does not affect your FFXIV beta account access.

I've taken a guess at the schedule before and this falls right in line with what I thought.

June 28-30: Duty Finder stress test (but we know now that this was pushed back even though we're still getting a test this weekend.

July 5-14: Week-long extended play stress test. My guess is this would conclude Phase 3. Hence the mass of invites being given out today.

July 19 - August 11: A three week open beta to once again stress the servers for extended play and iron out any last-minute tests.

August 20: Early access begins. They have over a week to distribute the release client to Legacy users and ready themselves for relaunch.

To me this kind of schedule makes the most sense. Not official, just a hunch. So I do believe the 14th lines up with an ideal time to end Phase 3.
