we'll get any "bombshells" between now and official release. i.e something we didnt already know or that SE decided to hold out on til teh last minute. Or is what we're seeing/getting in the beta currently exactly what we can expect on release date (with teh exception of things being fixed if they were broken in the beta)

There have been big changes each phase, I wouldn't be surprised.

Unless they reveal around phase 4 that the battle system will be completely different, I honestly don't think so, not much left really to shock & awe.

If you dig around a bit we already know all there is to know besides the story after the Waking Sands. Well we can't say what we see is what we get, since SE has stated they upped the difficulty on some of the dungeons purely for beta, which means they're actually going to be toned down on launch, so this straight line progression we have will at launch as that's "MMO standard" now, but we haven't seen much in regards to end-game aside what we've mined up and seen in concept (like old FF bosses being in crystal tower.)

So bombshells? Nah, we'll hear more about the story in the next month for sure though.

I don't think we'll get anything that will drastically change your opinion, if that's what your asking. "Bombshell" for me is new jobs or other mechanics we didn't know about. I don't think the things they would reveal would make anyone who dislikes the beta change their opinion though.

There was definitely rain in the game. I ran into it a couple times.

Rains often in Gridania anyway. That's been the only weather I've seen so far.

Does the rain affect anything? I haven't seen it in my city, nor the surrounding areas.

I believe the music changes slightly. There was a blog post about how the music would be altered subtly when the environment changes, between night and day, weather, etc.

I think this is pretty spot on. Of course there will probably be a few tweaks to existing systems, but in general I think the game is starting to shape up into something close to the release version. Like Louiscool said though a big announcement for me would be something like new jobs but I mean the fact that they even had SCH up their sleeve for E3 was a lot more than I even hoped for so I am not expecting to see even more surprises that big.

One thing I am secretly hoping for a little bit though is that they expand some more on the Limit Break idea, it has such potential to be something great, but from the little I've seen so far it isn't quite reaching that point just yet. Like Wint said though there have been quite a few changes so far between different phases so I would not be too surprised if they tweak some mechanics a bit more for phase 4/release.

Id like a new job announcement (thief) but i KNOW that isnt gonna happen. Im thinking more along the lines of "oh and we plan to release the first expansion at the same time as PS4 lunch" or "teh gold saucer we promised will be a launch feature" etc etc i.e stuff we didnt know already but would be happy to hear about.. like SCH during e3.. i personally dont care about SCH because its a mage class but even still it was what Id consider a bombshell announcement.

(speaking of which I wonder if those "certain open pvp area" mentioned will be there at launch.

Rained a few times in LL. It was kinda neat, there's a fog effect in the distance.

I wonder if rain and other weather effects will affect the spawning of FATEs. I always liked when there were certain conditions that had to be met for some NMs to pop like in XI and XII, it would be cool if there were some FATEs that worked like that in ARR as well.

After scholar.... I realized I know nothing..

I wouldn't be surprised if Musketeer was also ready, or coming in the first major patch. I thin Sch was an easy way to add another job without too much programming, and musketeer was supposedly being worked on in 1.0, while Thf would probably require a whole new class.

Not gonna lie, I hope so too. It's one thing I think needs work. Currently, you just get limit breaks by playing. It doesn't require skill, or focus, or teamwork. It just requires you to have a party, and have them close by. That, and they aren't all that great, at least the dmging ones.

I'm sure it's been suggested on the beta forums, but there needs to be a mechanic that builds it while also encouraging team interplay, like skill chains, or the old 1.0 system (I forget the name but we totally did them in Dungeons before they took them away).

This would be cool. The Chupacabra would be slick coming out of the fog Hound of the Baskervilles style.

Actually, conditional NM pops were some of the XI additions that attempted to modernize the game a bit and give measured progress. These things are more than welcome (and very possible in XIV). Content that requires other content is great. Content that steals your life on a 72 hour shared-spawn timer (PCC....) is not.

As for bombshells, SE needs to come clean as to whether canceling your Legacy plan means you'll never get the rate again even if you sign back up.

My money is on Musketeer and Corsair getting announced... The Class guild is there... And I have been drooling over the two fisted double barrelled sawed off shotguns each time I went to the MRD guild.

But, that is just wishful thinking:).
