It's quite common for IGN to give beta keys to IGN Prime members. They've been doing it for years.

I'm sure SE isn't happy with it, but it's not against the rules. Whether or not they ever get codes again from SE as a result? Who knows.

Zam gave away a number of keys during the 1.0 beta. I don't believe there was any pre-requisite for it like being a premium member (I wasn't a premium member at that time and I got one).

I vaguely recall Mikhalia and I "debating" whether giving keys to premium members first was "proper". I eventually got into that beta, too. Wonder what Mik is up to now.
