Hello again to all of you eagerly awaiting FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn. Yoshi-P here, bringing you the forty-seventh Letter from the Producer!

I hope everyone who's been accepted into the beta has been enjoying themselves so far. The team is carefully reading over all your feedback, verifying and squashing urgent bugs. We've received many critical reports for the PlayStation 3 version, in particular, and they've all been resolved without incident.

Now that we're halfway through phase 3, all that's left is to stress test the duty finder, and to monitor server stability over a long period. It won't be long until phase 4, early access, and the big day arrive, so the team is really giving it their all.

It's been hectic preparing for release, but I've managed to sneak in a little anonymous game time during phase 3 as well. This past weekend I was playing as a conjurer, partying with random players to collect gear from the dungeons. No matter how many runs I did though, not a single robe dropped. But then, on my last run, the robe I'd been waiting for finally appeared in the loot list! Needless to say, I lotted on it right away—but then the thaumaturge lotted and won by two points. It was all I could do to type "Congrats!" while biting back my tears.

Anyway, let's put those unfortunate events behind us. Now that the latest testing period has ended, I'll be heading to Paris for this year's Japan Expo. Not only will I be giving a presentation on FFXIV: ARR, but I'll also be doing interviews with a number of media outlets. My schedule's looking more hectic by the minute.

As producer and director, things will only get tougher from here on out. As much as I hate riding those metallic nightmares they call airplanes, I think I can muster up the courage if it means meeting all of our fans in Europe.
(That's not to say our North American and Japanese fans aren't important too. )

And with that, I'm off to Europe. See you soon!

Critical Defects and bugs are different. Critical Defects are also called show stoppers. This that prevent people from using the software. It's good to hear that. As for bugs, they will never be completely fixed, as that is the nature of the beast (Software Development).

Don't worry, they will continue to fix stuff (Even after the release).

Do that mean that the servers will be open 24/7 this holiday weekend?!

The only problem I have with the controller is the targeting when their are many enemies on the screen. Much worse then tab targeting or click targeting. So I made a CNJ since party targeting is actually perfect for PS3.

in your character configuration on ps3 (I believe its under systems tab under start menu) you can change your targeting to your liking while weapon is put up or in hand... Incase you didn't know this ;)

THIS! If you've ever had to code anything complex when your requirements are constantly changing (due to customer feedback) you know that everytime something has to be re-written or modified after its been tested theres always possibility for *****-ups. SE has done a phenominal job so far in hitting that "moving target" that is what the product will be at release.

One of the showstoppers for me is not being able to resize: Quest, Guildleve and Marketplace windows. They are two pages
And I can only see half of each. Unable to see the bottom at all. I can use the mouse to move it left or right, but then one of the windows goes totally off the screen with a big gap of nothingness in between the pages. If they close the gap and then I can resize it, I would see both pages.

Its a game stopper, or show stopper. I have put in a bug report, and hope they enable us to screen resize (like you can do with chat) so I can see both pages.

I am hoping some of the interviewers in Paris ask some questions regarding the Limit Break system, if nothing else just to hear what Yoshi has to say about it now that they have gotten some feedback on it.

You tried playing with resolution settings?

+1 this, makes targeting in big FATEs much, much easier.

Yup I did, to no avail. Perhaps you've also heard of the chat screen issue too. That at least can be partially resolved
because it has a resize button in the upper right hand corner. However, moving it has it overlapping with the hotbar.
Can't move the hotbar over, so that's another issue.
Cheers!

I played with the targeting options. Haven't found what works for my PUG. Mobs die faster than I can target and then auto-fight.
I'm hoping to find which option works best in FATE.

Cheers!

For large FATEs I set it to aggroing enemies. In the big gobby FATE near Sastasha I was pulling mobs off a LNC that was pulling out of the main group of gobbys. Another thing that helps is avoiding the big scrum that always occurs, mobs go down way too fast in that mess. I like to team up with 1 or 2 people and pull our own mobs a bit off to the side; far enough to actually be able to take it down ourselves but close enough for the healers to see us.

Keyboard and mouse have been a life saver on PS3. Not only with this but with targeting, performing actions, and accessing certain options.

I was unable to use the keyboard, mouse and controller. For whatever reason, if I have a mouse connected my controller doesn't work. Wasted a whole hour not knowing wth was going on.

You shouldn't have to use a mouse to play a PS3 game anyway.

Agreed, however I saw no other way to move the pages left or right, nor a way to resize the chat screen.
