EST gamer looking for small Linkshell / FCFollow

#1 Jul 04 2013 at 4:41 PM Rating: Decent
Been playing games and MMO's for a long time. I have come to find more enjoyment out of small and tight knit communities compared to extremely large ones.

I am not sure if there is even a market out there for smaller guilds, I see some posting to get involved with a group that is hardcore and will pushing end content ASAP. I see others that want to enjoy the ride and do it socially with as many people as possible. I find myself torn between those twp groups. I like to see content while its relevant and challenging, but I definitely don't feel the need to be the first to do it. I also like to be social, but prefer to be so with a much smaller pool of people than most.

My playing time has decreased a bit, but it is still not bad. Planning on playing at launch at least 3 days a week plus weekends. My normal weeknight free time starts between 8-9pm EST and goes til 12-1am EST. On weekends, I am pretty open all evenings. I have experience in MMO's (WoW, Rift, Tera, TSW, WAR, etc), although I don't have any experience in Final Fantasy 14 except a recent beta weekend. I tend to gravitate towards the tanking or healing classes.

I am not sure if any of the above falls in line with what any linkshells or FC's are looking for. If there are any recommendations, they would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
~Beanfuzz

This is very much the way I like to play and experience my games. I am not sure what you consider small but I am working on getting a group together that has around 15 people or so right now. PM me if you want some more info.

I'm with an FF group that's getting back together and picking up some new members along the way: Sibyl's Secret Service. We're part of a larger gaming community that's been around for 16 years (darkjedi.org, DJO), so we've got quite a few members that have been with us longer than they've been with their spouse.

We're a bit on the "as many as people as possible" side of things, but we're very well-structured. The model we follow is military at its core (utilizing a chain of command and separating the membership into divisions as necessary to keep everything manageable for the people who take care of administration), but that militarism typically only applies to how we organize ourselves: we've been around long enough to know that life comes first, and we don't expect anyone to drop everything to go out on a raid. Basically, the overall effect is that the group generally always feels very tight-knit.

After the first XIV flop, we eventually closed the doors on SSS, but most of us have kept in touch through other games. We haven't got the site fully up and running yet, just in a staging area at DJO, but you're welcome to come by and say hello and get started with us if you'd like to give us a try.

For the time being, we're using the following as our main forum:
http://www.darkjedi.org/club/DCG/forums/?cl=2167

(from dcg.darkjedi.org, Forums menu, and click "SSS")

Once we get SSS fully re-opened, you'll be able to find us at sss.darkjedi.org.

There's a whole lot more to know about us and what we can offer to the gaming community experience, but I think I've said enough for now.. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions. :)

Hey Beanfuzz! We are an east coast guild that I think will fit your needs. We consider ourselves "semi-hardcore." We are competitive but have fun doing it!

For more info and a link to our guild site checkout the thread here.

I second the suggestion for joining SSS and DJO, great group of people :)

On the FF side of things we're small, but growing. While DJO as a whole has around 500 members across all the games it supports, in SSS we have a much smaller (for the moment ;) community of 27 at the moment.

We'll do all the group content we can in the game, and set up a weekly time to try and get everyone online at the same time, but we are not hardcore raiders by any means. For us, the social aspect and just having fun playing the game with a group of friends is most important :)

Hey beanfuzz I think you would be interested in Tempest. I'm not going to give you the whole we have what you need because how can you really tell before meeting the people? Check out our recruitment thread guaranteed to make you giggle. Teamspeak info is in there if you want to come chat or you can message me anytime.

Although we are focused on end game raiding we are open to all different play styles and ultimately just want to have fun. You would definitely feel like you are a part of the group regardless of raiding or not.

At the moment we have about 25 people, with a solid group that has been around for 5 years.
