I've barely played Conjurer much, but the few Fates I tried were hard as **** to target people reliably. I'm on the PS3 version if that matters. What macros do healers use that helps them, deal with this terribly lock on for players?

There are Targeting options in the character config. you want to make sure targeting non party-PCs is checked. There are two different targeting schemes, one is with your weapon sheathed, the other drawn. I have it to where I can target everything but minions and party members when it is sheathed. when it is drawn i have it target all enemies, aggro enemies, and other-PCs. this makes it so you can target NPCs and objects when questing but still be able to target other people in the open world. Then when your weapon is drawn you can only target enemies and non party-PCs with left/right on the D-Pad. I don't have party members on this targeting because you can just use Up/Down to get to them easily.

There may be others that have better setups, and there are options for different targeting modes if you hold L1+ a button or something, but I Haven't messed with them. I found that this setup works pretty well in the overworld and instances. I had to turn off object/npcs with weapon drawn b/c I would target objects in dungeons and not be able to tank properly. Plus you don't want to be targeting party members if you're looking to throw some quick Aeros out on the mobs.

Thanks, that will help. I was hoping SE improved the healing targeting beyond what they did in FFXI. Thanks again.

IMO they did, but not in any drastic way. In parties you can sort of "soft lock" onto a party member (the tank for instance) and their HP bar will turn blue, then you can just hit up/down and target other members with a yellow bar for a single spell before returning your focus back to the primary target. I know it was kind of like that in FFXI, but it seems quite responsive in ARR. It works the same if you want to soft lock onto a mob as well, although it can get hectic constantly scrolling to a tank XD.

For NM Fates, I use:

/ac "Cure" <tt>

It cures the target of your target, so whomever is tanking the NM. Works like a charm, and I can toss in some DPS if a heal isn't needed.

For fates I set it so i can see people health bars when there below 100% but I set the tank to focus (Ctrl+F i think) and than try my best to either use the (target nearest player) button or mouse click them . Once you get choco's I just had mine heal the other players (not 100% sure it healed people outta party) and I just focused on the tank.. The high lvl fates hurt like no other.

I was ready to break out the old /target stpc commands from XI if there wasn't something else. I already hate I have to spam Tab to target mobs in these raids. Maybe I can tweak it for melee jobs as well.

You mean whoever has HATE at the moment, right?

Is there somewhere that has a n in-depth guide on macro setup? Is it like FFXI? I messed with it for a couple minutes before servers went down so I didn't have a chance to figure it out. I have a feeling some of the commands are different.

I'm not sure exactly, but it seems like minor changes. One example is /ac "stpc" instead of /ma "stpc" if I remember correctly.

I'm one of those hyperactive healers who just wanders around for the giggles, sweeps everybody whenever possible, usually from outside of any party, and I spent most of yesterday just hopping from fate to fate, gathering seals around Vesper Bay, keeping whatever tanks ran by up, and nuking the side aggro off.

The 4-position filters in the settings are great for someone like me. I swap from No filters at all, to Party, allowing only the people with me, a soloing setting blocking all but Monsters out, and a Custom one allowing all people for those times when you walk into someone else's problems.

Hit X on the guy controlling the hate so the cursor bounces back after each cast, find anyone worse off and tap X before casting and lock on there... just sweep back and forth changing your primary as needful.

Macros are good to get the heal onto the guy who has the hate at the moment, just remember to be fluid and don't get tunnel vision.
