I feel like the only poor sap I know who hasn't gotten a beta key! I was hoping to get a PS3 key since my comp just busted but everyday I check, 3 email accounts, all the website giveaways, and nada. I was a long time XI player on Shiva server and I'm looking forward to giving this a go.
Anyway, I'm curious what everybody thinks about the idea of a party voice chat of some sort. I think it would be cool to make the VC work with anyone you're in pty with? Am I dreaming?

sry about not getting beta but phase 4 will be soon enough. I think your dreaming wow and other games tried to put in a game client Voice chat and no one ever used it. Vent,mumble,teamspeak is alot better.

No doubt. I played WOW for about 3 years and used Vent there for raiding. It works great but something in game on a small scale like a pty setting would be cool so PC and PS3 could chat together. End game wise it would make things more fun, or should say less frustrating, IMO.

Untrue, lotro had integrated voice chat which was used by almost everyone in-game. It was pretty awesome. Unfortunately, it's a very rare thing to find in a game, and even lotro is being forced to get rid of it because although many players in-game use it, their VC client is not used elsewhere and is closing up shop. It's too bad really, integrated voice chat was certainly an awesome feature of lotro. I'd love to see it in XIV, but yes, I think it probably is just a dream at this point.

Have you actually checked your ps3 messages? That's where I got my ps3 code from, not in e-mail.

Unfortunately, yes. Checking all 3 emails and my PS3 messages multiple times a day... Thanks for the advice though.
