So I was looking at the gear in the beta phase 3 and something came to my mind. Let's take weapons. Daggers/Swords. Why on a lvl 15 dagger, does it say Requires: GLA/PLD? If the jobs work like in 1.0, wouldn't someone who unlock PLD already be lvl 30? Then, I thought it might be because of lvl sync, but correct me if I'm wrong but your current gear gets scaled down when you lvl sync to a lower lvl, right?

There are two reasons that come to my mind.

First, for raising the spiritbond to convert to materia, but why would you do that as a PLD on a lvl 15 dagger?

Second, jobs could work like advanced jobs in FFXI and start at lvl 1.

What do you guys think?

I think you're over thinking the situation. It's simply saying that you can wear it as a PLD as well. After all, there is a level sync function. Even though our higher level gear syncs, some people may want to gear appropriately. You seem perplexed over a level 15 dagger. It's smile worthy Smiley: smile.

We should also stop comparing everything to Final Fantasy XI. Or trying to place everything in a XI mold. I hope people don't do that with significant others... 2nd, Jobs are jobs. Let's just leave it at that.

I'm not trying to make it FFXI, trust me if this would be FFXI-2 I wouldn't be playing it, I got a real life...

I was just trying to analyze things for FFXIV:ARR. I've heard people say that when you unlock a job it will be lvl 30, but nothing from SE about it (for ARR).

Speculating is fun :)

There is no speculating. It's been said very plainly.

You equip a job stone, and you go from your "class" to the specified job.

You take off the stone, you are the class again.

Job = 5 job only abilities, 1 "sub class" ability spot every 10 levels.

Class = No "job specific" abilities, but "sub class" abilities every *5* levels. So you have more available.

As opposed to everyone else that will play and apparently only have fake lives generated by the Matrix?

Grow up.

SE could always decide to put in a dungeon similar to Ipsen's Castel in FFIX. That would make having access to low level weapons incredibly useful. Since that probably won't happen, the simple answer is that it was just convenient. As everyone else said, the job levels with the class.

Wow Viertel, are you mad or something?

by what I said I meant that I'm older now and that I got more responsabilities then I used to have. I did play FFXI for more than a year and invest a lot of time in it. And I will play FFXIV, but not as much as I used to play video games.

So many butthurt people on the internet.

I'll finish with something I just read:

Grow up.

I was about to say... speculating is fun, just not on Zam! Prepare to be attacked by angry people.

Then I saw the grow up comment, thus confirming my suspicions!

Its hilarious that you have to defend yourself about that comment.

+1 for you, -1 for that douche.

I was trying to discuss the game mechanics and that's what I got. I guess I'm done trying to have discussions in here.
