With Arcanist having two job stones, I have hope that Archer class will get its 2nd stone focusing more on attack.

Until that happens, is it possible to out damage a Bard by a large enough margin to make it a viable party option?
Which cross-class abilities would be used for a Archer maximizing overall damage?

Info on how cross-class abilities work in general. Which ones can & can't be used... How many can you equip?

I'm definitely hoping for Ranger or whatever rendition of ranger they want to add into this version.

I'm also interested in the following:

NIN
SAM
BST (Not sure if it would work in this game)
Some sort of class with a gun... that's a major DD, with possibly very low defense
RDM
Time Mage would be a cool job in this game... they've already shown with THM that status spells can be very helpful (sleep being the THM status spell)
Geomancer could be pretty cool with all the different types of topography they have

I think Archers do pretty neat damage. Although, I am equating my logic to stealing aggro. Until my marauder got it's level 30 skill, Archers were the only class that stole aggro from me during Bray.

Your skills should say which skills can or can't be used by which class at the bottom of the skill description. Also at level 34, I believe I could equip 5 or 6 sub skills?

Outside of Fracture and Internal Release, ARC doesn't lose anything DPS related when switching over to BRD. The songs do decrease damage, but you should hardly have to use them. With the way they drain MP, they're a lot more situational than songs were in FFXI.

As far as cross-class abilities go, I recommend looking at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/lv?key=0AsPI9Wq6z6GwdHJEYmR0Qjk4QzV2SmYzVzhYTVdCSkE&toomany=true. The amount you can use depends on your level and whether or not you have your job stone equipped. Jobs max out at 5, whereas classes max out at 10. Once you have access to them, classes start out with one and gradually increase over time. I forget what levels you gain the extra abilities, but you'll have access to 4 by level 20.

Nice spreadsheet, Mercy Stroke with its 250 Potency would be like letting off a Sidewinder. Blood for Blood could work too. Both are near lvl 30 abilities though... I guess to have a decked out DD Archer , you will spend plenty time with other classes.

Oddly enough, I'm more interested in Dark Knight becoming a possiblility than anything else, even though my mains in FFXI were Warrior and Dragoon. Also, there are no 2 hand great sword wielding classes or jobs yet, if I'm not mistaken. Mostly I want a scythe wielding DRK to tell the truth.

I think archer does pretty decent damage. I'm always having to manage my hate meter.

I wouldn't worry too much about Mercy Stroke since ARC already has access to Misery's End. It's a bit weaker than Mercy Stroke, but it doesn't require you leveling another class to 26 to get. Blood for Blood, on the other hand, is totally worth going after. Both ARC and BRD can cross-class it.

One DPS ability ARC does lose out on, however, is Rain of Death. So long as you're not accidentally waking something up, Rain of Death seems pretty awesome.

Like several others, I would love for SE to add in RNG. I'm not a huge fan of songs, and I would rather have additional attacks instead. Still, with the way BRD is set up now, I won't mind having to sing the occasional tune.
