Seems like just yesterday I was bummed that I wouldn't be able to play in the beta until summer. This time flew by quickly.

Is this something extra I have to do, or is being in the last beta meaning I am in P4?

I don't remember a game where I didn't have to... It may be open beta but that doesn't mean they don't want your information which is what applying for it is for.

They will close it Monday, then they will open it up again when P4 starts. So he can either do it this weekend or wait till P4 starts. So easy to do though he should do it today.

Thanks for posting this... it's good to know I'm all set for P4 since I was in P3.

I was kind of wondering how that would work.

Thank you for your reply!

On the other hand, I am planning to switch to PC. I started playing in PS3. Anyone know if I can play phase 4 in the PC using my previous registration for PS3? also, once the game is released, is it possible to switch between PC and PS3? I'll be traveling a lot and I would like to take my laptop to play FFXIV, so I would be switching constantly,

Yes you can switch back and forth no problem.

If thats how it's always been, then you obviously haven't beta tested MMOs before.

Server side character data means you need to have an actual account, which in turn means at least registering.

Any MMO I've ever beta tested has required either an application or a pre order code of some sort even for open beta. What makes open beta "open" is that they are not selective in who they accept, but you still have to apply or jump through some sort of hoop.

I'm from 1.0 and never even got my code. And i also applied for beta (several times( just for the heck of it incase i didnt get in automatically... I never got a code for being a legacy player or a beta tester, so whoever said they let everyone in is severely mistaken... It's almost like SE doesnt want you to play their games anymore...

You're supposed to get in touch with them if you didn't get your code by Phase 3. Some 1.0 people also had the code go to really old email addresses that they didn't check any more, I think.

with all the options they have given for getting codes, including third party options (contests and giveaways on other websites) I find it hard to believe that you haven't gotten a code if you really wanted one. I accidentally got 2, (one from SE, and one from a third party giveaway).

To be fair, some of those giveaways ran out VERY quickly. I think the Zam one lasted...what, 1 hour maybe?

Yeah we blew through 1000 codes in about 40 minutes.

If the game has no registration/application process, it has no way for you to save any progress on your account because it has no way to attribute it to a unique person. But hey, let's humor your claims.

*Googles 9 Dragons*

Oh look, you need to register with this company called GamesCampus to even log in. They even show you an image of the login screen in one of their FAQ about having to reverify your account..

Which asks you for a User ID, forum nickname, password, and email.

*Googles Last Chaos*

*Clicks Download*

Oh look, you can either sign in with Facebook (which has its own email built in), put in your birthdate (!) and email address, or sign in with an "Aeria" account. And how do you get an Aeria account? By putting in your email and birthdate.

OK, I'm not even going to waste my time checking the others then.

The fact is this game requires an SE account to play, which means registration.

And if you are testing to provide feedback (right?) you would have to gain access to their site with an account so you can leave feedback on issues. Exactly how can you provide the dev team feedback as a tester if you just play without giving them your info...

lemme quote what i said and bold the important part since ppl seem to have missed it:

"ok im confused, since when does one have to APPLY for an OPEN beta?"

of course you have to REGISTER for an mmo but apply? its an open beta.. why is there a deadline to APPLY? every other MMO if the open bet is in progress anyone can join in at ANY time download, register and play.. THIS game however doesnt seem to be the case instead you have to APPLY before a certain time (before the open beta has even started I might add) before you can participate in the oopen beta. Now oh wise one please tell me how THAT makes sense?

It's a deadline for being registered before Phase 4 opens up. If you miss the deadline, you have to wait until Phase 4 starts to register if you want to participate in Phase 4.

It doesn't really matter if every other MMO does things differently. This isn't such an onerous restriction that its going to drive people away from playing.

Hello everyone,
I have pre-ordered the game and I'm wondering where I get the beta code from?
I had a copy of FF13 and I have a members code which I have just registered.. I know that I am late..

So my question is; do I need to register as a beta tester by July 22nd, then wait until I get a beta code and then register that code by July 30th? (That's what it looks like I have to do, but just want to make sure)

I also have a square enix account from when I played FF11, but I haven't played since 2009 and have no idea what my passwords are. Will I have to make a new Square Enix account, and if I do, how do I do it?

It looks like a lot of people are confused, so I don't feel so bad...

Also, I have just applied to be a beta tester via the link in the OP as of July 20th.

Thanks.

Do you not read your announcements fully?

Quote:
Application Period:

* On the above date and time, the Beta Tester Application Site will be temporarily closed and will reopen when Beta Test phase 4(final Beta Test) begins.

Clearly they want the application page down for that in-between period for some reason. And there's plenty of possible reasons, ranging from because they feel like being asses to because the application form interacts with something internally that they will be working on during the period, so they'd rather turn it off instead of having it muck things up.

Oh ok well that whole part makes everything I said irrelevant now. I thought if you didnt register by the deadline then you couldnt get into the open beta AT ALL but since you can still register once the open beta has started then nvm now as THAT is completely normal
