One of the two people I perma-trio'd with in XI was a Dragoon first and foremost. The pet was cute, the pet was fun, but was more often than not just visual noise and dead within a few AOE's.

They'd shishkebob my little taru keester for voting "no". I would have rather seen a stronger Dragoon that didn't randomly turn into a "Crap, sorry, Someone sleep those, " conversation.

While I can understand the idea of wanting a pet to be a companion with a Dragoon - I don't think it is wise to insert it into the native system of the class. It would take away from the strong image that is being generated for Dragoon at the point - harnessing the power of the Dragon, rather than having to be balanced against it because it's constantly by your side.

So I had to vote the option down.

Now I'm in full agreement with something like a Wyvern Companion you can call to your side like a pet chocobo can be. That would be an interesting dynamic to be had that would not take away from an already well put together job.

I would rather not, cause then they have to balance the base DRG DPS around the pet which would make the character weaker. Which was a huge problem Dragoons faced when compared to other melee classes in FFXI.

It seems like most people that voted "no" did so for the sake of not changing DRG. I wonder what the poll results would be for the question "Should wyverns be added to FFXIV through a new job?".

They could always introduce Morpher from FFTA. Why have a pet when you can BE the wyvern?

I remember this being debated pretty heavily on the official forums with an overwhelming "no". However, I voted "yes" then and I did so again here. One reason was for the nostalgia. I loved DRG in XI and was hoping for a similar experience in XIV. Not exactly the same thing, but something similar. As of the end of 1.0 DRG was disappointing for me. The story line behind it was rather week compared to XI (I know, I know, stop comparing XIV to XI so much). I think DRG needs something more. I would love a pet, but at the same time I understand the argument of the wyvern dying too quickly and leaving behind a gimped DRG. That being said I would be happy with something that adds more depth to the the job. It doesn't necessarily have to be a pet wyvern. Maybe instead of a battling chocobo the DRG could have a wyvern, or inherit some kind of dragon powers that temporarily transform the DRG into part dragon. Just give me something! I need more of a reason to enjoy the job other than really really **** artifact armor! On second thought, maybe I don't...

I voted no. I did play DRG a bit in XI and liked it, but in XIV just wouldn't feel right to me.
