I can't help but feel that people deleting their Games folder is causing this.

I would suggest actually running the Uninstall Program on the Phase 3 Beta through the Control Panel.

Not sure though, just an idea. It's my understanding that running the Uninstall Program gets rid of files that are used for supporting the game outside of the My Games folder. Perhaps those extra files are causing your conflict.

Ok finally found something that worked. For anyone else who is running Win 7 and needs this

1. Run Msconfig
2. In the General tab select selective startup
3. Uncheck load startup items.
4. apply and restart computer
5. After installing game, run msconfig again to return system to normal.

This is terrible. I'm having this same problem and you shouldn't have to go through this to install a patch of any kind.

Guess I'll try it and see if it works. This problem will crop up at release though.

SE seems to be the only game company that can't seem to code for Windows properly. FF 11 is still a mess in some ways.

It's not SE... It's Microsoft. I can't find the link but it was on the FFXIV client as a link that suggested to download and install a certain patch... if you're on windows, you should run windows update cause there were new ones on the 14th. After I installed the patch, the client worked fine.
