Why can't I log into my own server? Real question.Follow

So, I was logged in this morning. I logged in again at lunch. I am a Legacy player and should have my spot in Excalibur, what gives?

I can see the servers are congested and new people are moving into each world, legacy or not, but why would the server/world not allow me, a current resident, to log into my home world? I can see Player A, C, and J not being allowed in, but not me. Anyone have an answer?

That's good news for SE but if I was on the fence I would be a little mad that I couldn't play on my actual server.

Is it giving you the message that the world is not accepting new characters or is it saying it's full. If it's the latter, that is typical of any game on opening day of beta/release.

Why would it be full though? I was already there, I should be allowed in and I would count toward the world being full. Saying it like that means, I am living on Excalibur but at any random time the world might be full and I can't play when I want too. I have to wait until someone leaves. That's not right.

Somewhat off-topic, but having beta progress carry through launch is a brilliant way to get new players to roll on old servers. If you want to play beta badly enough you'd probably take what you could get and that means a lot of prospective players rolling old servers just because there isn't any other option. Well played SE, well played.

For what it's worth...

Due to the high number of logins, we are periodically restricting/lifting the number of logins allowed at one time.

Currently, the Gilgamesh, Excalibur, and Hyperion Worlds are experiencing high frequency of login restrictions.

Word. So its not that its full, its that they are trying to limit "log-in" congestion. Got it. Thanks.

Except it is that it's full. There are reports of server queues so they've got caps on the total number of players allowed to login that aren't tied to when they're actually logging in.

I would guess that your character is indeed on Excalibur, but isn't "created" again and counted until you try to log in with it. There are probably 1000s of inactive characters from 1.0 that were moved but will never be used, so SE just has them in an inactive archive waiting to be awakened. Otherwise if you think about it, legacy servers would already be bursting at the seams even with no new characters.

I can understand the limitations on character creation until the launch period is over and populations stabilize; however, what i'm not able to comprehend is why if this is more 'modern' they don't have a higher queue for wait times implemented. It seems to have a cut-off of around 50 so far as I can tell. Maybe just for the beta and i'm ******** for nothing.

Other than that, I haven't seen live progress since P2 and I have to say, it was well worth the wait!!
