I may not do crafting right away, but I plan on eventually doing Carpentry and Leatherworking.

What crafting jobs are people looking forward to doing?

I'm probably going to do Leather and Weaving since I plan to level BLM, and the majority of mage gear that I've seen has been one of those two.

I think I'm gonna do Goldsmithing first, since it can be used on all classes. Then when I settle on my fighting class something to go with that. Possibly some cooking as I go.

Goldsmith, Armorer, Blacksmith. Later I'll probably level the rest once I finish those three.

I'm leaning toward Weaver and Armorer first, but Goldsmith seems to be calling my name as well. I do plan on leveling them all to 50 though, but We'll see how long that actually takes.

The practical side of me wants to do those three. Mining as well.

The "I just wanna relax and have fun" side of me wants to Fish. All day. Then level Culinary or Alchemy. Not sure which side will win in the end.

I aim to level all crafts to 50. But the order I do it in has been giving me plenty to think about. I have a few levels here and there from 1.0 and beta4 but since then have read all I can on crafting skills and I would do this if I were starting afresh.

Start a class in Gridania or Uldah and level to 10 to unlock other jobs, you'll probably have around 3-4k in gil by then
Buy a few of each mint lassi and frumenty from the vendors in your starter city
Level Weaver to make a full set of craft gear at level 10 or so (might actually be more efficient to buy this first couple of sets)
Level Goldsmith to 15 because you will really want to have the level 15 skill called Manipulation to increase your number of crafting steps by three.
Level Leatherworker to 15 because you'll want the skill at 15 which reduces the reduction in durability by 50%.
Maybe do the storyline quest to 15 for airship access at this point
After that Weaver and Armorer( Limsa) will be a priority for crafting gear and for decent tools. The HQ tools and gear you can make at this point will make everything easier.
At some point you will want to start to level miner and botanist. If you do this make sure to level through to 5 on crystal shards as they give sensible XP at this point and although coming by shards is pretty easy, running out would be a pain.

I will probably be switching classes a lot at first trying to find that class that feels the best for me and just getting the levels I need to have a versatile ******** Because of that, I think I'll be going with crafts that benefit all classes, to more of an extent than the more focused crafts. That leaves, Culinary, Alchemy and Goldsmithing as well as all of the gathering professions. Eventually I suppose I will try and level them all.
