Not sure if this has been asked but is the client for the early access the same as the beta phase 4? Will I have to delete the old one?

It's the same. You just have to put in your early access code into the PSN store, and you should be good. Don't even have to download what they show you as it's the same thing you have. Also to make sure your good to go, you can check account management -> transaction management -> services list then press X on Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. If everything is active, you should see (Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Early Access).
