Played 1.0 and want to play the new version. Questions.Follow

I played ffxiv 1.0 when it was released. Bought the special edition and had the coolest character.. I only played the first two months after the game was released and couldn't take it anymore.

I want to know if my character will still be available to play as i had the coolest name ever too. I've been totally disconnected from ffxiv since i played last time. I've read around that i can play the new version for free? How do i do that? Thanks.

Also, for the ones that have played the new version. How friendly is it for someone with only a few hours a day if any to play.

Thanks !

Since you were a 1.0 player you'll get to play for free for a week or two after the launch, but you won't have early access so you'll need to wait until the 27th before logging in on the same account.

This is the beta installer, but it should carry forward to release: http://gdl.square-enix.com/ffxiv/inst/ffxivsetup.exe

Get that and start downloading the game so you're ready to go on the 27th, if you want to continue playing you only need to log back into your account management and re-subscribe.

As for a few hours a day, it's plenty, the game has Duty Finder now, which lets you do dungeon instances without having to go to them, and leves as before, but the best improvement by far is that the main storyline quest and NPC quests are plenty to keep you occupied and pretty short.

Your character is on a legacy server somewhere, but it's still there, levels and all. However your gear has likely changed to being dated, which means it's no longer usable. (Well, it is technically, but the stats are old 1.0 pre-battle change stats, might as well call it useless.) So you'll need to re-gear up from new quests and possibly request a server transfer depending on where you ended up.
