Sick and tired of looking for questsFollow

Playing the world of MMORPG's for what 15 years now.

All though I love the game itself, I do find something increasingly frustrating : questing.

I have pretty much scouted all 3 starting areas, + the main 3 map areas connected to each area, yet apart from levequests there is nothing to do. Believe me when you spend 1-2 hours just running around looking for quests, you ask yourself, are they simply asking me to grind out levels, and just fate fate fate all the time?

Maybe has anyone got a good website that shows the "path" of questing. Because honestly, one place does not lead upto another like every other single MMORPG that has "successf(ully)" exist(ed).

This is from level 20 onwards. I started in Ul'dah. Went to the western area. then BAM nothing from the 1st dungon. So I decide to do some class quests and main quest story line, which leads me to Grandia, apart from 2 quests in the whole 3 areas at my level (and the lvl 20 dungon) nothing to do here.

So I go to Noscea, nothing in all 3 areas for low level 20's.

Can someone please help me out, especially during this maintenance, would like to level my main class after reaching around 15 for alot of other crafting/gathering classes. Would love to be prepared on exactly where to go from say level 20-35. If anyone could help would really appreciate it people.

Regards

Huh... Are you keeping up your story line quests? I'm Lv23 and I haven't even begun to run dry yet. I haven't touched Gridania or Limsa quests.

My advice is do hunting logs and keep your story quest up and do any side quests that are near the story quests. I havent even touched leves at all. Did all the Guild leves only once each.

There's side quests, storyline quests, class quests, fates, leves of all kinds, dungeons (which currently are in repair), regular grinding, hunting logs, maybe some other stuff I'm missing.
How much more do you really expect at launch Mr 15 year MMO vet?

I think alot of the leveling is meant to be Levequests, Guildhests, Fates, Hunting Log, Duty finder. Which there is plenty of. On top of side quests, class quests, main scenario quests. Theres so much to do in this game.

There is a point (not sure if its on your first leveled up class) That you will run out of quests(from what I'm told). They can't possibly make enough quests for you to level up all the classes on 1 character Especially since you can only do side quests once.

Which is why for your 2nd , 3rd , 4th and so on classes You get an armory bonus that gives you a pretty big XP bonus for Alot of things. To make it easy to level 2nd classes. So after you get to level 50 on your main, You can easily level fast with the Armory bonus doing Levequests, Guild hests, Fates, Hunting log, Duty finder, Class quests.

This isnt WoW. WoW was designed for one to make a new character and repeat the same quests they did on there old character.

There is ALOT to do in this game.

On my current character I'm level 16 Havnt even made it out of the level 10-12 area. So much to do.

If you stop and do actually some of the rest of the stuff like I don't know, fates, instance etc you would see that you wont run out of quests like that. Was 24 at phase 3 without touching gridania or limsa for quests etc and I had just finished ul'dah quests.

One of the main issues you'll run into is spreading yourself too thin. If you play all the classes up to a certain point you're going to run out of quests.

Unfortunately, the best piece of advice I can give would require you to have a time machine to pull off. What you should have done was try to ration out quests to each class you play. As you level, depending on how many classes you're focused on, you need to inject more FATEs, dungeons and guildleves into your leveling time. If you are leveling a bit of everything, obviously you want to spend more of your time doing things other than normal quests if you want to have a decent amount of them to do still when you get to the 5th class.

At level 20 i found plenty of questing to be had both in Eastern Thanalan, by Drybone, and in La Nosc around Aleport. Exp literally flows from every direction in this game, i'm having trouble relating to the OP.

I am doing sort of what Filth is talking about. I don't do any quests that are not Main story or Class quests, in between I work on the hunters log and join any FATE that is in my path. While doing this I try to be in queue for an appropriate level dungeon which works since I am a DPS and it usually takes around 40min or so to get in.

The reason I am doing this is because I think it will make it easier to get new classes up when they release one that I am interested in. Since there is a finite number of quests rationing them seems like the best thing to do. Doing this made leveling quite varied and less tedious while at the same time giving me the option to do the same thing with other classes later.

Then again I don't know how well this works for mid- and endgame leveling since I am still just passed 20, but hopefully this works going forward as well.

pretty sure the recommended tab tells you where all level appropriate quests are for completion.

Thanks for all the input, but like I said I started in ul'duh area, I got upto the 1st dungon area, cleared some quest camps and that was it. Nothing on recommended.

I must agree to the fact I am behind on my story line quest as its dungon depndable and as they dont work...Well I'm trying to simply level up.

If anyone can give several camp areas where I could go from level 20 onwards that would be really helpfull. I cant clear any more map at the moment, as what I havnt cleared is lvl 45+ areas. Seriously I'm really annoyed, if anyone could do this I would really appreciate it :)

Starting in Ul'dah myself. I don't know what to say. If you aren't doing your Main Story quest, you're not unlocking the things you need to unlock. You should be doing the things already mentioned, and there is absolutely no shortage of content. I, too, have only done Ul'dah and quests no where else, and I'm 20 with plenty to still do.

Instances seem to be fine today since they're restricting logins. I would suggest moving along on that, because it will unlock more dungeons. Also, make sure you unlock Guildhests, those are fast easy XP.

Wow, I'm not sure what to say. I'm glad you didn't play FFXI when it launched because ir didn't even have a third of the amount of quests and side content this does.

I have to agree here. Once I hit lvl 18 all quests just vanished for me. I too have ran around all over the place and couldn't find one...literally. Yes I have the levequests (sp) but aren't I very limited on the number of those that can be done a day? Also with the dungeon system not working, that removes another path. I wonder if I missed something that opens up other areas?

Quests will not be your main leveling tool going beyond 20. The three starting cities have quests to get you acquainted with the area, your main story quest, and your class quests. I would recommend using the starting city quests to assist in leveling new classes, since you won't have main story questing you'll need to be a little bit more grindy than you did with your first. Even taking care of all the side quests moving you out into each higher level quest hub zone you will find yourself behind where you were on your first job. So, like the above poster informed you, you'll need to kill extra monsters to bridge the experience gap (nicely on a +50% XP bonus, which acts as a base for XP chains as well). You can also mix it up with Hests for a quick XP chunk (though I wish they'd give you the large XP bonus for each class, since your roll is different--someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I didn't think you got in when I tried in P3/4), FATEs are great XP (as well as great places to get Grand Company seals), then once you hit 15 you can pretty much glide through the levels with the Duty Finder (there is so much XP in dungeons).

Now with EA acting up as it seems from the forums (just a silly 1.0 player here), one of your main XP sources is blocked. My recommendation would be to switch classes and level them up for support skills for your main class, that way when you start getting into dungeons you have more tools at your disposal.

Edit: I believe the lv20 camp for leves outside of Ul'dah is Ala Mhigo.

I'm currently a lvl 20 cnj and lvl 20 arn and been working on my main story quest and on Ifrit. I have seen SOOOOO many quest markers and picked up a big chunk of them and yet there are still so many that i am just passing up because my screen is loaded with quest markers, and this is just outside Uldah, so i'm not sure what your complaint is.

This is your problem, in that the DF is ******* so now you're stuck. It's pretty much the same situation that everybody is in. I doubt there are any quests that you can pick up until the story leads you into other areas, which is unfortunate. I am stuck right after the first primal fight, and unable to get my GC quest done. All the quests I have to complete all require an instance. Once it is working, your problem in finding quests will likely vanish.

I simply think that its a bug that occurs on certain players. On official forums there are a number of players experiencing the same problems.
But I am level 23 with coppermines just done. I'll concentrate on that, and see what happens next. Maybe some guildhests is also a key, done 0 so far, is the xp that good?

Ah, that makes sense. If the completion of the dungeons in the main story line triggers the quests in subsequent areas, I understand why I can't see any. Hopefully this latest downtime will fix the dungeons then.

OP, you are doing something terribly wrong if you are having to look for quests. The way the outlying areas are constructed in each city simply means you need to find a level appropriate "town" after having completed the quest flow to said town and then move on to the next. Also, have you been completing your Hunt Logs? That is massive XP you are missing out on if not.

Ah, here is the problem. Once you finish the dungeon runs more quest will open up. In a perfect world this wouldn't be a issue but since we are in beta 5 apparently your best bet for leveling is going to be FATE or Leve.

Hunt logs, as I have been wandering around alot, as I am lvl 23 the only mob I have not killed is the level 29 one. All the rest is done. One would think going after these mobs in the hunting log should lead you to an appropriate area to quest, but not my case. In my opinion the key it the main story line quest. I just done copper mines and I'm lvl 23. It is a lvl 16 class quest. I'll focus on that and let you all know how things go.
But I have to say, it is a little dumb the way questing is only around the main quest story line to unlock different camps.
I have to say I have been to many camps suiting my level area regarding mobs, but 0 quests.
Has to be this main story line.

You have to find other means because of the problems with the duty finder listed above. For instance, you can run a string of FATEs consistently if you know what you are doing.

Go here: http://xivdb.com/?maps/42/w1f1-00/Thanalan/Western-Thanalan

Filter it so it shows you where the FATEs are located. If you notice towards the top end of the map there is a string of Lv20^ fates that you can run back and forth between as they start. When you reach a certain level you can then use the map to find other areas similar to the one I'm pointing out. Plot your course and keep doing them.

or

Do what I did and just start leveling gathering and crafting classes until square quits spilling the kool aid all over the place.

For 20+ Area I know of one in Drybone, then it leads (Near the high bridge). (+26.)

Past that bridge leads into South Shroud which if you reach Quarrymill there should be an overload of quests at 20+. If not head to the town that's not by an Aethryte. (Those quests eventually pull you into Quarrymil as well.)

You can also unlock the dungeon Halatali - which is (around 20) - You can unlock it in Vesperbay after Lords of the Inferno. (Main Storyline.) Halatali is a good grind for a bit.
