So I just played...Follow

for a hour or so. Pretty cool! I had some down time today so I went ahead a did the DL of the game, and then decided to give it a try.
Only made it to lv4 or 5, didn't want to get to wrap up in the character I made...due to rolling on a JP server. Not that I have an issue with playing with mix lingos, but when it comes to me selling it to friends...some who I'd like to come play would be turned away (I think). So fingers cross on the NA/EU servers getting their junk together by Tuesday so I can reroll :D

So a question on something that has bothered me during my small play time. When I hit "M" for map, a almost see through map shows up. I hit it again, and it turns solid, and once hit again the map goes away.
Anyway to change this to: Map opens, Map closes (no 2 map deal)? Was starting to bug me.

Ha, the map thing bugs me too! I'm glad you're enjoying the game so far!

I've tried tinkering with the settings on map myself, and I believe there's a disconnect with the 'map corrects itself after moving' function in your Character settings. Checked or unchecked it never actually does anything such as re-center, etc. if one was to go based on the function's description. Personally I got to the point where I just left it open, since the minimap is too small for my taste.

That was the thing I did not do..dig around in menus. I hope there is also a way to lock things as I seem to move them, not meaning to. Once the UI is set to my liking, all will even be better :D

There is a little eye on your map if you hover over near the left side. Click that and it will always show as solid. "M" to show and "M" to hide.

I was doing this, but I'm so use to looking at a mini-map, it was getting clustered. One or the other lol, My brain can't handle both Smiley: clown

Ah, I noticed the eye thing before, and clicked, but it didn't seem to do anything during P4. Good pro-tip, thanks!

Try to get to level 15 or so and do the group content before you decide if you like it or not. The beginning of the game is pretty horrible.

Grab the map and drag it to the right. It goes translucent when it's interacting with the chat window.

If I could get in on my main, i'd send you over a screenie of my layout. I spent an hour or so on it yesterday, with all the shared hotbars and gear sets and such setup, to give you an idea of the level of customization they allowed this time. One feature that's still lacking is the ability to re-size the hotbars, but i'm guessing that's not long in coming, either through SE or an add-on.

I didn't want to say ths, but I was getting bored running over there to talk to that NPC..then back..then over there to that one.
Finally I found my way outside and started smashing stuff. Pretty sure I did a FATE too (something with big huge toads).

Wow, I feel the opposite. The game is really grindy for me after like 15. The endless quests are pretty annoying.

Yeah, they probably need to revamp the first hour or couple of hours of the game. It really drags with the fetch questing and the boring intro. They should really take a page from WoW here and have you beat stuff up right when you're thrown in-game, then maybe mix in some fetch/talking quests.
