Retainer....The bank not so easily obtained.Follow

Anyone else running around with almost 4 bags full of materials and stuck with no bank. Seems a little crazy that you have to run through many story line quests including dungeons to finally get the retainer. Especially when the time in queue seems like an eternity. Did I miss an easy button or is that the only way to get some storage.

Just sell or toss your junk*. Its painful, but it only happens once.

*Advice from a fellow packrat.

It's the only way, unless you have access to Company Chest.

If you are a new character you will have to do the story quest. If you are a 1.0 person you can access them right away. I know I was able to do it in LL with a NPC by the summoning bell in that little merchant strip. ie. easy button

lol I am playing on new characters. I suppose it is comforting to know if I go to my legacy characters I have bank space.

How easy is it to make a free company? Also once that is created how easy is it to obtain the company chest or is it unlocked once the free company is created?

15,000 gil and I think 5 signatures. Also I don't think you get the chest for quit a few levels. And if you don't have alot of people it could take some time

3 signatures and the one who makes it needs to be level 25. And the chest is one of the firsts things you get.

Totally forgot about retainers (haven't logged in since 2011). Mine was a Miqote called Kegluneq. I wonder if she still has my stuff...

I, a fellow pack rat, hadn't had a need to toss anything up to the point of getting the retainer. I was at near full capacity but got the retainer at that time. Follow the questline and you'll be fine.

The chocobo and the retainer was a hard goal in beta 3. Then in beta 4 my legacy guy stumbled across both of them for free it made playing so much easier.

Yeah, I'm having the same problem. I decided to try to get access to every single class possible and leveled all my crafters to 10-15 and now all my bags are full of crafting mats that I don't want to toss but then I keep hitting full bag after picking up a few items.

Is it bad that my crafting classes are higher than my battle class?

No. But remember that it is much easier to unconspiciously level a DoH class by botting.
As such, the late retainer and market access, tied to (manually) advancing through the
storyline pisses off RMT even more than you.

Whenever they get caught and banned, no matter how many free accounts they own,
they will always have to re-do the whole storyline up to level 20. After the third time or
so, Merlwyb will start to show up in your dreams.

I don't understand how this answers my question? I love crafting and the first thing after hitting 10 was pick up all the crafting classes and start crafting. I only had to level my conjurer to 15 was to be able to get the other crafting classes.

I'm not good with Acronyms, what is DoH and RMT?

I think this answers my other question in the other thread about people selling gil would probably get banned and can't create accounts on servers that have restricted character creation but I really don't see how this answers my question about my crafting class being higher than my conjurer.

No, having a crafter (DoH) class higher than a fighter (DoW/DoM) class is perfectly fine,
as long as you manage to pass the LV20 Ifrit fight, which opens up the possibility to hire
a retainer through the storyline.

Ahh, that makes more sense now. Thanks Rinsui. I guess I'll go for level 20 before I waste more space crafting haha.

I am all for this change. Yes, it's harder to get started but honestly, why are you trying to make money off of low lever crap instead of playing the game?! Also, this eliminates the RMT's from destroying the value of items. Honestly, just play the game THEN worry about selling things. By the time you get decent drops or can make anything significant, you'll be through the storyline enough to sell things.
