How does Duty Finder handle duplicate names?Follow

I haven't used the duty finder yet(hence my question), but I was curious since as I understand it the Duty Finder takes players from all servers from a particular data center. So if it takes 2 players with the same first and last name, how does it handle that? Or do those players get passed over for being grouped together?

Whenever one Sephirothxxx would be paired up with another, one of the two characters gets deleted at random.

Yeah... I tend to agree with you on that particular example.

On a side note, anyone who names themselves something like that with a bunch of x's or a random letter changed in their name has to live with number 1). Being completely unoriginal and number 2). Having a really bad name because they had to jack it up with other letters to make it work...

I guess they don't get it that they have to live with that name for... um... I dunno... FOREVER

I do approve =P

OP Mere speculation but considering the need to register surname and forename the number of users with the exact same combination should be minimum, I noticed however that the FC tag is hidden inside a dungeon, I assume that tag is reserved to insert the server name to differentiate between identical names.

That would be the "elegant" solution, however it may just restrict people with the same name to play the same dungeon considering that is cases should be extremely rare anyway.

I tried to create two character with the same first name but differing surnames, but it wouldn't allow me.

Yes, I love my character's first name THAT much :D

I do like the first/surname approach however. There are some great names out there -- and also some silly/saucy ones too.

Yea.. i guess that makes sense. Wouldn't want 2 Cloudxxxxx's playing together would we.
