So i just got my battle chocobo and there is a 30 min timer and it ticks down and saves its place when I dismiss than starts there when I summon.. anyone have any idea if this is 30 min a day or week or what? I think its silly to have a timer at all.. in P3 it was fine as it was.. Make sure not to afk with it out..

Meh gyshal greens are cheap, buy a stack of 99. Also you can summon it the second it dies and chain summon it if needed. I think its fine. My only complaint is that it seems a bit slow to level after rank 1

is that all it is a timer to have to use a new gyshal green?
Yes, it will dissipate after a half an hour and you'll have to resummon it with another Gysahl green.
There is no cooldown on re-summoning it, so you can have one out at all times. You just can't ride him while he is out, or any mount for that matter.
That timer is the time until it disappears. As soon as its gone you can summon another, whether it has been 30 minutes or 1 minute. As long as you have the greens.
