I don't understand why everyone is ranting so much. Are you guys actually trying login every few seconds until you get thrown into the queue? or just trying once every 5 minutes?
just wondering how often people are trying, bc every 1017 I have gotten has only taken a few minutes of clicking.

I don't complain about it but i do spam it pressing the A button gamepad or Zero KB while watching TV lol. Last night was 30min the night before took and hour and 30min. Maybe you just got lucky or logged at the right time
We're also right at the front of NA peak hours. Wait until about 5:30 p.m. PST, and you'll feel the full wrath of the 1017.

I try for about 5 minutes before I give up and find something else to do, but I've seen people going at it for over an hour. I had a stream up in the background yesterday and the guy trying was spamming for about an hour before he got into queue.
It will depend on your server probably, but it's usually not wise to start threads like this. You're kinda baiting someone to come along and bop you for it.

I've had between 5 and 35 minutes to login in not peak times.
One of my friends was blindly mashing the numpad 0 key, I happened to catch him cancel the queue. It took him a few more careful tries after that and then he noticed he had likely got in queue multiple times and canceled out of it. So be careful if you're spamming to get in, you might also be spamming yourself right out of queue.
Thx for the tip i'll try that tonight. I've been spamming while watching TV. I did have one weird thing happen before it gave me the queue box.. then after 20 sec I got the error ><

Don't be so quick to judge, ye of tiny thoughts. I just got home from work and loaded it up and only took a few minutes. A) Im on Excalibur B) probably so C) suck it
I don't see how you could get that lucky. I'm on Excalibur too and sometimes I can't get in at all.
I'm on Excalibur and I try for 15-20 and never get on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it is what it is ... it was at 4:45pm cst ... not really much of a busy time
I've worn the X off the button hitting that thing. Haven't got in ever.

Seems like luck of the draw. I never waited more than 2-3 minutes to get in. I suspected my selected ffxiv deity liked me better than everyone else. Then I tried to log on tonight. Next attempt, I can feel it ^_^

I don't know if this is a way to get around it but I just stay at the character screen 5 to 10 min and then it lets me in the queue when I select enter

I'm also quite lucky, but only because of my super late play time. And then SE did the maintenance during the exact hours I play! >:O
I "had" to (chose to) stay up till 5am PDT leveling my little weaver.
