Hey guys, I have been putting all my points on Str for more damage, it seems like its working I never miss and it's hitting much harder. Is dexterity needed? It says its for long ranged physical attacks and since you can't put points under accuracy I assume I'm doing it right.

Yeah that's all I've been doing also I know in beta 3 I was still thinking ffxi and was mixing str and dex causr I thought dex would help with crit rate but it didn't .... so yeah str is all the way

So far it seams to be pretty straight forward, more STR for more damage.

It may be worth considering to set some points in VIT for more HP, that should give a better survival rate when bosses use their strong area attacks.

As a monk you'll have plenty of HP without stat'ing into VIT. STR all the way, DEX does nothing for us.

In beta 3 I did the same thing because I didn't know what the stats did.. once I found out that DEX didn't affect crit or acc, that was the end of that.

DEX does not increase Accuracy, that is a separate attrribute. It increase ranged damage, parry and block rate. Monk rely on dodge which isn't seem to be affected by DEX.

As others have said: STR all the way. You don't need nothing else.

I'm actually a bit dissapointed by this:

I would have liked to "spec" as a 1. Evasion tank (I know, we don't have any enmity abilities) 2. A quick DD with light strikes. 3. A slow DD with heavier strikes. DEX could have affected speed or acc or even evasion.

Perhaps this will be accentuated with gear and materia, but it seems kinda worthless to just put all of the points in STR.

All that strength shows itself greatly when you sustain GL3. Then you run the risk of eventually stealing aggro.

They could always tweak evasion to actually generate enmity(for mnk only).

On the other hand, we can't wear the heavier sturdier gear that is class specific to WAR/PLD/MRD etc

God, that'd suck. I use Featherfoot to give tanks time to take things AWAY from me... not to keep them Smiley: clown

For sure GL magnifies the value of strength for us.. also the value of skill speed.
