Are targeting filters broken?Follow

#1 Aug 29 2013 at 2:41 PM Rating: Good
I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong, but in Character Config > Control Settings > Filters, I have it set so that "While weapon is drawn", I target enemies only.

But, I'm still targeting Topaz Carbuncle, NPCs, and destination points constantly while in combat stance/weapon unsheathed. It's really starting to get on my nerves, so is there anything I'm doing wrong?

I'm using a controller and targeting with the directional pad.

Or is it just bugged/broken?

Can you post a screen cap of your settings please?

Once i set up and enabled targeting profiles, this wasn't a problem for me anymore. I can just switch between a "target any" or "target enemies only" or even custom profiles. If i remember right its in the same menu as the target filters.

Not only do the "While weapon is drawn" filters not work, but I realized that my "While weapon is sheathed" aren't working either, because I can still target Minions.

Yes your target filter is broken because I change nothing from the default setup and never had to target anything other than mobs by clicking tab.

Maybe it's a controller bug?

Could be, Killua. I have the same problem and I use controller on PC. Filters don't do anything.

I use a controller and have no problems when my target profile is toggled to "enemies"

This is interesting. What platform? There are different builds floating around? One with broken targeting filters and one without? *drops dead* :P

I had weird issues too so I disabled it and went with custom. It's easy to click between them during combat.

PS3 or controller on PC?

Using the Xbox 360 wired controller on the PC, the targeting filters are not working at all.

Only current errors I have on my controller is that it occasionally locks up on specific inputs. I think, however, this may be a internet/lag issue on my end. It does not yet cause me any major problems (Only botched one LB early thus far and no positioning deaths.)

Otherwise, I love playing on controller, I can input commands while threading the needle through AoEs.

... that reminds me. SE deserves mucho kudos for improving the AoE responsiveness. Near flawless Ifrit run is attested to just how well one can skirt AoEs now.

Same problem here on Win8/64 + official wireless 360 pad. I set every single filter to enemies only but it still targets pets and NPC's.

I have same problem on PS3, i have tried all the different settings, i finally got it where i don't target friendlies then i had a quest where i need to keep the healer alive, if i joined a party at this point im sure i would get booted and called a worthless noob.

hm. So when I draw my weapon out, I should not be able to click on anyone else?
If so, then this is no working for me, on PC, with key board. I hit Z, weapon comes forth, and I can still click on anyone near me.

Right. The purpose of it is because while you have your weapon out, you should have no reason to target NPC's, Players, Minions, etc, etc, unless you are a healer, then you just reverse those settings. It supposed to make it easier to target and cycle through the actual enemies, if your a melee/magic or players if you are a healer/buffer. Unfortunately, it doesn't do this and just treats filters as if it was set to All. AT least for me.
