This was posted up on the Lodestone a while back, thought it might be useful info for some people.

Has the changes from 1.o to ARR and lists the various types available.

Has anyone posted the math. How much does +1 materia help? It seems like +1 or +3 to an item really isn't that big of a deal. But is it a multiplier?

They said bonus stats to varius races don't matter. And those tend to be bigger than the bonuses given by materia.

How much materia can you get on one item?

The bonuses in and of themselves are minor. Adding 2 here or 3 there.

However, as an example, if you attached, say 5 +6 vit (I believe the level 4 vit is +6), to a body piece, as well as another 5 to your hands, and to your legs... and your feet... Then attach ~1 +4 per piece of jewelery, giving another 5x4 bonus, you are looking at a collective bonus to vit amounting to 140 vit bonus. Don't get me wrong, I am writing this up as an example, and do not attest that this can be done, or would be wholly beneficial. However, as an example, that would be how you would make the stats significant to have a noticeable impact.

Now the other problem with that is what the cost in time and effort would be necessary to totally stat blast your gear like that. Even though it is MUCH easier now to make a 5x meld, the impact of such a meld is significantly less, and you are still going to burn quite a bit of materia on some of the melds (e.g. ones that only have 1-2 slots as opposed to ones with 3-4 slots).

Thanks, that makes sense to me.

Does anyone have a thought on the time commitment to create and put materia into their gear? Especially at lower levels? Would you add materia to stuff before level 50? Because it feels like it would be better to just buy new gear. Staying current with your level is better than slotting +2 - +4 materia.

I anyone rotating their materia all the time?

Well if you are leveling multiple classes in the same discipline you could always reuse it to help you get by all that much easier.

Yeah, I haven't learned/used the pull out function yet. Have you been doing that? Rotating materia a lot?

Not yet, but I am new to it. I just thought in theory. It says that you can go back to the goblin who gave you the original quest to break down items into materia and he could remove them for a fee, but I haven't had a rare enough materia to want to try it yet.

Erm not true, the new materia system has caps. So if your armor has +10 str on it already and you add +5 +5 it will eventually get to a point where you have X str (say 20) on it and 2 materia slots left and when you add a +5 str to slot 3 it tells you that you are still at 20 str.

This prevents you from stacking + str on DD gear, and forces you to add in some acc/crit/det to help balance you out.

I think it helps early on, im almost complete on getting all my HQ bronze armor materia fitted for my gladiator, only took me a few days to get it all rollin, materia will probly be the best at level 50, but i like doing it for each tier of gear i can wear, i really enjoy the materia part of this game!
