I've seen some articles regarding Grand Company and GC points (??)... when do we join these companies, or are there and prerequisites to do this. I saw a thread regarding the Chocobo Whistle and needing 2000 points (??) in a GC. I'm currently 17 and just did the 3 cities story quest. I haven't done anything further as I'm waiting for my friends to catch up (lol @ 1017 error's)

You'll join the grand company at level 20 after completing a certain quest of the main storyline, after joining one of the grand companies(you'll get to know them ingame through a brief speech) you will be able to get company seals in order to exchange for items and rank up your company rank in order to get even more items
Those seals can be obtained in several ways
1. Grand company leves - those aren't different from your usual leves, except they are given by grand company officials.
2. Supply missions - these ones ask for certain materials or crafts of each craft/gathering class(related directly to your level) and given exp/seal rewards that scale accordingly.
3. FATEs - probably the best way currently, finishing FATEs after joining a grand company awards you seals and unlike company leves or supply missions, those are not limited by allowances or timers, only by your desire to beat the living hell out of the poor FATE critters.
4. Expert delivery missions - Unlocked at the sergeant rank, this allows you to exchange green/pink items you don't need/want for somewhat small amounts of seals, not the best, but since its for stuff you don't need, its fine.
p.s. Chocobo license does indeed cost 2000 seals but that should be relatively easy to get.

A little beyond the point in the main quests where you unlock a Retainer. Hand full of missions from there. It's not too rough to reach luckily.

Another way to earn seals is to do the special Hunting Log for your GC.
I will post in here since I'm guessing this is a noob question as well...are there representatives from each GC in each town? If so, where?
If not, I think I've seen them at certain outposts. Does anyone have or seen a list of which ones?

Flames are in Uldah, Twin adders in girdarnia, red guys in lima. Yes I cant spell FFXIV lore based names sorry.
Also remember that once you get in the GC you then need to farm 2000 Seals, fates are the easiest way, you can get quests for seals from the one guy at your respective GC headquarter.
Once you get 2000 seals, go to the GC merchant buy the license, then go to the chocobo guy.
Also you need to spend seals to rank up with your GC, do this so you can buy gear for seals

Where do you exchange the "pink" color gears for GC seals?
Right, I understand where each is based out of but if I want to turn in items for the Supply quests and I'm in Uldah, do I have to go back to Girdinia, because I chose the Adder, to turn them in or are there people in the land that I could give them to?
