I'm trying to apply for promotion to Chief Serpent Sergeant and this is what I'm being told:
"For further promotion, you must needs meet with the satisfaction of Commander Vorsaile Heuloix."
"You will find the good commander standing yonder. Request of him his endorsement and he will assign you a trial by which you may earn it."
I talk to the commander and the only thing he has is a quest called Shadows Uncast that requires you be lvl 44 to start. Is that the quest for promotion or is there something else and I'm just missing it?

So you have to finish the storyline in its entirety before you can be promoted to CSS?

You have to beat the entire game and do the quest and rank2 hunt to get promoted to second leuitenant
The other promotions require completion of rank1 hunts and the lv43(?) quest to complete the dungeon in coerthas to get promoted to sergeant
