First I will say that I am one of those people who has been able to play less than 20 hours since EA started, the game seems fun enough, not spectacular but it will hold my intrest for awhile I think. I have suffered throu the WoW launch, the EQ2 launch and now this one. All equally as frustrating. I understand why SE underestimated the amount of players they would have, **** most of us who tried version 1.0 did.

The issue I have is with those who HAVE been able to play without major issue and the lashing out they do to the people who are frustrated with no bteing able to play. I believe MOST of those people, who wake up at 6am to make sure they can log in and stay in all day everyday since EA would be LIVID if they were the ones who couldnt get it.

They flame and namecall the people who cant get in, with 0 sense of empathy and understanding. I work 58 hours a week everyweek and have 2 kids, not a lot of freetime to speak of so when I spend what little money I have left on a game and actually have a 2 day weekend to play it (yeah i said 2, cuz some of us never see a saturday off work) I would like to actually be able to play. Am I frustrated? yeah, a little ****** yeah.. but I am old enough to know that this is not that uncommon during any MMO launch.

What bothers me more is the dbags that have been playing nonstop, never logging out, never going outside to see the sun and then have the totall lack of understanding when those who havent been able to play at all complain.

Let them complain, they paid for a product they cannot use, it is a customers right to be upset.

Now go on, grind some more Fate's, get to max level, call people cry babies some more.. Im gonna go play catch with my boy and then call a lady over and get some lovin, maybe I will be able to play later, maybe not... its just a game.. they will fix it soon enough.

They'll also have the audacity to tell those who can't play to "go do something else."

Laughable.

I work my **** off and I had a three day weekend which is rare for me. I could have worked this weekend instead. I just wanted to play the game and relax for a change and this is what I get. I got on twice only to get errors that booted me and didn't let me back on,.. I think after the last drop though I might have a major problem because now I get a strange error when I actually get in the queue,

I am not able log in either and of course I am a little upset about it considering I can play no more then 1-2 hours during the week but complaining isn't going to fix the problem and I along with many others are sick of seeing these threads over and over. SE has already admitted the problem given a timeline to fix it.

Being one of those people I can sympathize. I had no issue logging in for the longest time but presently I'm unable to. It is rather infurating.

I think you'll find the difference in the response from the community is that good well constructed posts, such as yours, are fantastic and welcomed. You stated your case clearly, shared your thoughts, your thoughts are very valid and presented in a very adult-like fashion. The responses so far have been terrific.

The difference between your post and some others is the presentation. People are lashing out uncontrollably at everything and anything they can grasp at. They're screaming bloody murder, making inane threats and insults to other forum members unnecessarily, and otherwise throwing an overall tantrum.

On the flip side of the coin, there are clearly those who are doing the same in defense of the game and unnecessarily lashing out at those who can't play, such as yourself. It's regretable, but both sides are doing it, and neither are right to do so.

Of course Square Enix is the bad guy. They're in charge of their own servers. I don't understand how some people think.

There is too many people staying logged in, but that doesn't make it the players' fault. It's Square Enix's fault for miscalculating how many players they needed to accommodate.

I agree with the bit about the fanboys ************** anyone that so much as sighs at the game. However There is absolutely nothing wrong with players playing nonstop and never logging out. THIS SHOULD NOT EVER BE AN ISSUE IN AN MMO. It never has been, and it never should be. Besides, those of us that get lucky when we log on in the early hours still get boned with the random 90000 errors that totally got fixed after open beta. That combined with all of the ineffective maintenances that have been going on every day it is pretty **** difficult to stay logged in for 24 hours straight.

Besides, those of us that do stay logged in is out of necessity. Believe me when I tell you I would love to turn my PC off at night knowing i won't have to spend 8 hours the next day attempting to log into the game I paid for.

This is absolutely correct -- I wish I had stayed logged in. Unfortunately I'll have to fight the Lobby Server NM when I get home :\

90000 errors are disconnect errors... While a portion of them are SE problem some are the users problem like bad isp, router, wireless etc.

I wonder which portion is larger.

People having end-user issues or SE's botched server job.

I'll bet blind that SE has the bigger portion.

Life sucks no matter what end of the scale you're on. Gawd knows I get a few glasses of wine in me and I'm ready to fight. But... as far as 1017 goes (and not discounting the FC on Midgard named after it. Hilarious, BTW.).

I'm fortunate enough lately to wake up and log in during a nonpeak time frame. But I would be frustrated, like I am alot when I get off work, to not be able to even sniff an opportunity to log in and play. I usually have enough going on to disregard this game (and my lack of progression shows) but that is not an excuse. My "trial time" is running out. Soon I'm going to be required to pay for this game ( which I'm happy to do). But the whole 'we didn't expect' mantra the fanboi's have been championing lately... that needs to end next week (or this week if Sunday is your start). It's time to realize what's going on. Easier to downsize after a couple months than it is to keep apologizing while money gets angry.

The whole "we don't need you" fanboi thing? Remember, if YOU were enough, we wouldn't be here now.

sighs - I'm not a fanboi - hate that term. Look Joshi has explained it in length!
As other people have said all MMO's have had difficulties at launch - even the great god WoW!
I'm of course irritated when I can't log into the game. but being in the UK I at least have the chance of logging in on a morning
when most of NA is asleep.
I tend to stay on most of the day - until I get 90000 or w/e - if that happens during NA time then I can usually kiss goodbye
to logging in again.
So I go do other things - like go to family weddings, meet up with people - see the sun etc etc

Probably... I had several from SE today...

I had allot when I ran wireless during beta and now I am hard wired and get less and they had stopped 100 percent during beta but the ones I have now are almost positively SE fault..

Even then, most of WoW's login issues are resolved within hours not long, long, long, weeks.

Probably in part as to why it's the most played MMO. /shrug

I kind of see both sides of it. For the first few days I had no issues logging in in only a couple of minutes (no I didn't have early access) But I had to work and house projects so I didn't play too terribly much. Midweek I started running in to the huge wait periods and occasional 90000 To be honest unless I'm going to be gone for more than a couple hours I don't log out to avoid these. But as its been stated, thread after thread of "SE = Satan" gets old fast. This isn't the SE site so it's not going to help repeating the last 10 guys. Waiting sucks, but had I been in SE's shoes I would've gone pretty conservatively. I like that they have been giving us at least some sort of time table and sit here fingers crossed. Defending or bashing them won't change the outcome and they havent added the new servers yet so why is everyone surprised that they keep getting 1017's.

I have read several of your posts and you seem to be pretty accurate, the internet is an ugly place, thats what happens when there is no threat of getting your *** kicked lol. I will also begin a heavy rotation of reefer and beer around noon, so if you see me on here being less than civil please forgive lol.

Your argument is well thought out. I can sympathize with you as someone who has been able to play a moderate amount. If all of these complaint posts were like yours, you'd see less complaining about the complaints. Sadly, this launch has shown that many people are very irrational and have an entitled sense about themselves. This type of behavior really annoys me. This launch is bad right now but 5 years down the road when you or I are still playing this (hopefully), we will remember it as a bad dream. Everything will be smoothed out in time and nothing really has been lost. In fact, they're compensating us for our lost time: something I'd never expect from the FFXI dev team.

I've been able to play a good deal and consider myself lucky but recently have had bad luck logging in. It's very frustrating on this weekend for me, especially, because classes have just started back. I wanted to burn myself out of FFXIV as fast as possible so I could focus on important things. :P But I'm in the same boat as you, now.

What I can perhaps comfort you with is telling you that, from what I've played so far, FFXIV ARR is absolutely amazing. When we are all able to play within the next week, I think you will be glad you were patient because there is a wonderful journey waiting for you.

Now, as darexius pointed out, people who post irrational threads that (constantly) complain, whine, or post negative things...such as this guy:

Killua125 wrote:

are why some people, who have been able to play, will 'flame' or attack the people complaining.

Also, to state the obvious: players who are constantly playing are probably not looking at forums. I know I am not on here when I am able to play. The game is far too engrossing!

Nobody says you don't have the right. You absolutely do have the right.

Let me ask you this. If you are in a crowd of 10 people and waiting at a bar. You're told only 1 can come in and you don't know when people will start leaving so you can get your turn. Nobody is really drinking. Everyone is just sitting there at the bar doing nothing. You stay silent but 7 of the 9 of you start complaining. And complaining. And complaining. Over. And over. Nobody is talking to the bouncer. They are directing it at you and the other person. So you step aside and say, "Hey bud, this place is great. You'll really like it here".

So the others come up and say, "@#%^ YOU @#%^! THIS PLACE @#%^ING SUCKS AND EVERYONE STANDING IN LINE IS A TOTAL IDIOT. IF YOU DONT LEAVE NOW YOU'RE A @#%^ING MORON. @#%^ PONIES AND sh*t YO!"

So you keep on talking to the other guy. Then a whole different set of people step between you and your calm conversation and start doing the same thing. Their only purpose is to cause strife.

Nobody is talking to the bouncer. They're just turning it towards the crowd and trying to incite riot.

Would you rather have that happen? Or would you rather sit with your friend and have a friendly conversation while you wait? Would you deck everyone speaking? Would you leave?

What kind of person are you?

Nobody wants to be miserable in life. ZAM isn't the reason the errors are happening. The community wasn't founded on strife. A bunch of people got together that like to play games. That's what we all are here. Do you want an entire board drowned out in nothing but chaos because you have an opinion? Or do you want to have a pleasant time waiting for things to resolve themselves (things outside your control), have fun and interesting conversation with others like you in the same situation you are in, and enjoy the game when things settle down?

Nobody wants to be miserable and that includes you. You and you alone are in control of your own reactions and your own feelings. Not SE. Not ZAM. Not some dude making long posts about emo stuff. I want to be happy in life and a game isn't going to affect that. Don't let it do the same to you. You can contribute to positive banter just as well as negative banter. At the end of the day you will know that you aren't alone and that you made someone else feel better about a pain you both share equally.

So I go do other things - like go to family weddings, meet up with people - see the sun etc etc

the difference between SE and Blizzard is blizzard doesn't wait a week and a half to fix their ****

You're right, they waited longer.

You're not wrong in feeling that way. I definitely feel the same as you in that regard. I'm hopeful that once they're fixed that'll be the end of that. Maybe it, maybe it won't. It doesn't make it excusable, but I'm not going to condemn the developers to death by throat sock for it. It happens, it's beyond our control.

Of course Square Enix is the bad guy. They're in charge of their own servers. I don't understand how some people think.

There is too many people staying logged in, but that doesn't make it the players' fault. It's Square Enix's fault for miscalculating how many players they needed to accommodate.

In a world shattering first - I completely agree with Kahlua.

I was willing to give SE a few days to sort themselves out and fix these problems but the 1017 issues are getting worse, and worse, I have barely been able to log in for the last two or three days. How many players that might have been long term subscribers have left. I understand the issues involved - but not having even a rudimentary queuing system is a complete fail.

Unfortunately being one of the busier weekends is exasperating the problem, it would seem. The lobby server is obviously being inundated with login requests and is getting fried. It's no surprise that 1017 is flaring up worse now than ever -- Everyone is home, everyone wants to play, and it's a 3 day weekend.

I look forward to Wednesday. I'm not expecting a Jesus-save or anything, but just maybe logging in will be a little more reliable.

I am not able log in either and of course I am a little upset about it considering I can play no more then 1-2 hours during the week but complaining isn't going to fix the problem and I along with many others are sick of seeing these threads over and over. SE has already admitted the problem given a timeline to fix it.

You KNOW complaining isn't going to fix the problem, but yet you sit here and complain about people who DO have the right to complain about a game THEY have purchased! What gives you the right to say they can't! Because you're sick and tired of the same threads? That's not good enough.

I wasn't complaining, I was just answering his question and if you really are upset you should be letting SE know, not posting on a forum unrelated to them.

I don't mind threads by people who can complain in an intelligent way, but the "OMG SE SUCKS" threads are a waste of space.
