Ok, until we officially iron out our forums, I am going to post this here as well as on our lodestone forums. So far, these are the nominations we have for FC officers. I apologize if the spellings are wrong, I was bombarded with tells and wrote as fast as I could.

Callinon Soulforge
Cilia Maroth
Valefor Almasy
Lance FancySauce
Amarok Goodfellow
Ronyn Olorin
Ghost Orchid
Nghthawk Evenfall
Raxion Gunsoul
Boj Bgood
Pryssant Novio
Rhaya Mewrilah
Chewe Dankles
Duma Katosuki
Master Shake
Dare Knight

If you have anyone else you'd like added to the list, post it here. I'll leave this for a couple days, then we can put it to a vote. Please note, these positions will be on a trial basis just to make sure that everyone nominated is a good fit.

I understand that, which is why I pointed out that it is a trial basis. Unfortunately, I am not on 24/7, and I cannot be available for all of the companies concerns. Therefore, it is of utmost importance that we get some officers involved as soon as possible to help progress the company and keep it on the right path. I'm sorry everyone hasn't been able to login consistently, but nothing that is decided now will be a 100% permanent solution. We will continually re-evaluate the company as a whole and make sure that those involved in leadership positions are able to be in-game consistently and move us in a successful direction for the entire company.

I'm gonna have to go ahead and say that I don't think Danny Bonaduce would make a very good officer. He drinks too much.

I see names on a page. Name I don't know haha.

I do know Cilia and will be voting for them.

But, to be well informed, perhaps... defining the roll of an officer, and perhaps an introduction to why these people are good is in order?

We will be going over this in our next FC meeting, once more people are able to log in.

It does look like just a big jumble of names to me as well, and I'm even on the list. I think the reason for that is that the ZAM FC is just so big, that we haven't had to time to learn the identity of most of our members. I've seen a few people on the list talking in FC chat a few times, but quite a few of them I've never seen or spoken to even once. (As, I'm sure, is the same case with me as well.)

I made the suggestion of putting myself and Callinon on the list, mainly for the fact that we've both been in an officer position in previous games before. Having past experience with a similar role would surely help, I think.

Having said that, I'm not out to step on anyone's toes by saying that I have past experience. The nomination process needs to flesh out first. I would rather have someone better suited for the job end up with it than myself, if a person like that is in the FC and willing to undertake it. It's for the betterment of the FC overall. We need people that are willing and capable of leading. If that doesn't happen to be me, that's perfectly fine.

Bartel said last night during the meeting that he would like to see the ZAM FC become the #1 FC on the server. I don't doubt for a moment we have that potential, we just need to make sure we take the right steps to put us there. So far we haven't taken a wrong step, so I'd say we're on the right track.

The biggest issue is, starting an FC like this, without leadership in place makes it difficult to get a foothold. My idea is to have all officers go through a trial period of 2-4 weeks, where you can be evaluated to make sure you are a good fit. After that period, people can weigh in and decide if they think these members should be permanent officers. We will also have re-evaluations on a regular basis to make sure that the current officers are best suited for their positions.

All jokes aside, I would have no problem being an officer. I've always been placed in a leadership role, in games and out. I just can't log in.

For the vote, how many resulting officers will there be? I think you should keep the number low for the moment. We still need to get to know each other, and there will be plenty of time to add more later. Once the sub-linkshells go up, I think it would be a good idea to give their respective leaders officer status as well.

Someone Left Rhaya Mewrilah off the list. She is a lvl 50 and has helped me quite a bit on my road to 50. And now that I am there, I can thank Chewe Dankles, Rhaya, Lance, Don Fletcher, and Duma Katosuki for helping me the most. And Master Shake for the comedy. So put them all on the list, they deserve it.

And Bartel you should be on there at least leading the crafting department if wedding duties keep you from the lead role.

And sorry I missed the meeting. I went to the store at 7pm thinking the meeting was at 9 my time and it turned out it was changed and started exactly when I left for the store.

How about those people post a little about themselves, just so we get an idea of who they are. Perhaps a little bit about what experience they have in leadership or a little bit about their personality. As someone had posted, it's just a list of names for some of us.

Just something about the person. Otherwise I'm voting Danny Bonaduce, at least i know what I'm getting with him.

Vet RDM and NIN from FFXI. Worked in conjunction with fellow xi's managing social and end-game ls's on Fairy server. Guess you could call me the number two guy. If primary leaders were unavailable I would step up and assume the role. Also had a knack for mediating during meetings regarding direction of our crew.

All-in-all, just want to contribute what I can to our team. Think we have a super rad thing going and will do whatever I can to contribute in a positive manner, officer or not. Good luck everyone!

Edit: I also own a visual media production company with a 'revolving' team of 20+. I also am an audio engineer...

General Manager: Amerada Hess Corporation (7 years)
Assistant Manager: Target Corporation (8)

Both of those were in retail and have since kick that bucket and now 1 of 3 software engineers for our company.

Linkshell leader of Unknown Force (5yrs) - Ragnarok FFXI

Officer Raid Leader - WoW - Stormscale (Cataclysm expansion) (1 yr)

I love gaming, MMO's especially been playing them since a yr after made its release in the US. I would consider myself a semi hardcore player that loves to have fun, joke around and just have a good time. There is always times to put on a game face and get serious, but doing so in a positive and fun way.
Catch everyone in the game possible thur morning before going to work.

Guess I'll throw a little bit about myself in:

I lead an endgame shell on FFXI for several years, as well as lead a casual shell. I was also a member of Frenzy and was kind of a "silent officer" and would help the leaders with decisions when asked. I was an officer in a raiding shell in lotro for a year, and was the lead tank and 2nd in command of an endgame progression shell in WoW for a year and a half. I was a member of one of the top rated PvP guilds in swtor, and also one of the top raiding guilds as well. I led a shell on FFXIV before it was deserted.

In real life, I was a store manager at KB Toys for 4 years and a department manager at Target for a year (worst job I've ever had). Now I'm a graphic designer at a local health food company.

If you guys want me to stay on as leader, I will do so. My time for the immediate future might be a bit limited, but I should still be on most days and some evenings/weekends. I've actually rather enjoyed getting this FC going and flourishing, which I think we are already. Smiley: nod

I'll take this one post out to talk about my history so that you can pick me out of a crowd..

My first job was as a supermarket cashier, eventually became a supervisor and stayed that for 4 years.
I was the event manager for a large midwestern card and game shop, organizing and running staffs of between 5 and 50 people for anything from a 150-player card tournament to GenCon.
Currently I own and operate a small computer repair shop.

In my gaming life, I've been playing MMOs since they were text-based MUDs doing everything from being a player to being a developer.
In WoW, I was an officer and eventual guildmaster of Desolation at the beginning of Wrath. We ended the tier ranked 16th on the server (heroic didn't exist at the time).
I was the healer role officer in the guild Simple Mechanics at the end of Wrath, doing heroic progression, we ended that expansion 7/12 heroic 25man ICC.
After that I was the healer role officer in Solidarity for Cataclysm, we ended that expansion ranked 3rd on our server for 25man heroic progression.

Ok that's about enough of that nonsense.

What server? I played LOTRO for many years on Nimrodel during my hardcore days.

I was on Meneldor. I really liked lotro quite a bit. The Rohan expansion with mounted combat was one of the coolest ideas I've ever seen implemented in an mmo.

Well I wasn't really expecting people to nominate me. I just like having fun in MMO's and I like helping others out. If you really wanna know stuff about me then in terms of MMO's:
I have been playing MMO's since somewhere around the mid 90's. Some of the games I have played and beta tested include - Ultima Online, Everquest 1 & 2, Lineage 1 & 2, Ragnarok Online, FFXI, SilkRoad, WoW, LOTRO, Perfect World....basically enter an asian MMO that has come out in the past 15 years and I have probably tested and played it. There are a ton of western MMO's that I have played as well but there are too many to name as this list should show that I like MMO's lol.

I first started getting into rpgs with table top games like D&D...well mostly D&D but everything else was based off D&D. That spread to console gaming then pc gaming. I still do table top gaming whenever I can with a small group of friends. We currently play Descent 2.0 but every so often we will find a random game based off D&D and try it out.

I'm not too sure about being a leader here since I wasn't able to attend the meeting and from the notes that were taken of the meeting it still seems like there is a lot to discuss about it. So I am happy that people would nominate me but I still think everyone needs more information about how everything in the FC will work.

On a side note please keep donating whatever gil you can to the FC housing foundation. It would be great if we were one of or the first FC to have the house when it comes out.

Agreed, and assuming that the servers are actually fixed with todays maintenance, we will have another meeting this weekend to discuss things more in-depth. This weekends meeting was more to get the ball rolling and get people to start thinking about the bigger picture. The next meeting will work out the company logistics a bit more and give more of an idea of the direction we are heading.

Also, I second the notion of continuing to donate to the FC! We're at 400k, but that is less than half of our goal of 1 million gil by the time 2.1 and housing are launched. So please, if you have any spare gil lying around, donate! Anything you can contribute will help. Thank you!

To be fair, it's also 40% of our goal after a little over a week of play with server problems.

I'd say we're doing fine.

A good officer would be someone who will be online a fair amount of time most days. They will be willing to help others, to guide players who are new or learning about certain aspects of the game, they will be cool headed and willing to listen to members concerns, and be dedicated to advancing and improving the shell as a member of a leadership team.

I've seen a few people on the list talking in FC chat a few times, but quite a few of them I've never seen or spoken to even once.

I like the idea of waiting a bit before our little election is held. I feel that, especially during this launch week of intermittent connectivity, there hasn't been a chance for many to properly show themselves. I did get /poked today by a fellow member as he ran by, though, which was nice, although he neglected to provide me with the private /dance I asked for. Plenty of time on that front, though, plenty of time.

I'm on a lot and haven't interacted with most of these players, either, actually. But, to be fair, I'm only level 13 and mostly exist to provide lengthy, mildly sarcastic commentary. Pretty much the same role I fill on these boards... Smiley: tongue

Unfortunately, we just don't have the luxury to really wait. I can't be responsible for 200+ members myself, nor can I be on 24/7 to moderate people. Even adding Thayos will not cover that. We need to get some people put into these positions in order to keep order in the shell and maintain a leadership presence at all/most times. The officers that we pick will be given a trial basis to prove themselves, and everyone will be able to give their input after a 2-4 week period to decide if they should continue on as officers. At that time, we will also allow other members to step and be given a trial in leadership positions if there are others interested (or more nominations come in). This is the fairest way I can think to do it, while also being the fastest way to get some people in that can add some control and directions to the company when myself or Thayos are not available.

Hey Team!

I grew up on Final Fantasy and, while I got my start on MMOs with Ultima Online, nothing compared to that of my time in FFXI. During those four years, I went from novice to Deputy Leader in an end-game raid LS on Pandemonium and then, after server changes, to an officer on Hades. Spending my time on end-game, loot distribution, team mediation and developing FAQs for members, I truly grew to love the function LS could provide to a well-intentioned and managed team. Seeing how open, kind, and cohesive a group we're shaping into over P3 to today, I feel for the first time in a while, excited more for sharing my time with a group than accruing personal gain. I also played WOW for 2 years but spent that time on PVP.

I plan on being, and have been, very active with this game. Luckily, times have changed and this game no longer requires 7-hour parties with only one set up possible. This leaves room for flexibility in my time, and I'd prefer spending that time in the company of others. Either in an admin role or just as a member, my activity is a guarantee. I have ideas on how things could evolve and am looking forward to contributing to our forward momentum.

In real life I spent 2010-2012 in Cambodia with the peace corps and now work as a development contractor with an Afghanistan community stabilization program as an operations coordinator. I do occasionally have to travel for work and can't bring my game with me (Afghan Internet = no bueno) and will sometimes be out of game for two-three weeks at a time. I'd still be very active via forums during that time. Working in the capacity I do-- remote working, tracking costs, lists, inventory, high-risk working environments -- I do well when I'm busy and having additional responsibilities in the game gives me additional purpose and a chance to see this FC move forward successfully.

I'd love to show ya what I've got and I have a keen interest in building up our coffers, crafting trades, and in-FC networks. I love gathering guides, lists, and info. As an admin, I'd ensure questions are answered, information is available, and innovative ideas are heard. I love the dynamic we already have going and I am excited to see it evolve!

Thanks!

Valefor

Let me preface this by saying I get that we've got completely different ideas of what a chain of command is. Just hear me out. Or ... read me out. Whatever. Semantics.

This is all wrong. It isn't an officer's job to guide players. That's everyone's job. Even if they're only two days into the group, if they know the answer to a question they should speak up and assist. If they can help with a mission or quest, they should. If they're willing to listen, they should listen, and they should be there to advance and improve the group any way they could. Like I said, that isn't what an officer is for. They can do that, and they certainly should. Like I said: It's everyone's job. Now, here is how a chain of command should work. I'll use Dynamis in this example, simply because I know we both know what is being talked about, and I'm willing to bet most people that read this will get the general idea.

First, the head person whatever you want to be called, decides on a general idea. "Let's do Dynamis." The officer's jobs are to figure out the details. Find out which Dynamis will help the most amount of people, figure out if the funds are there, figure out how to get those funds should you be short, figure out if there is any scheduling conflict with another shell, so on and so forth. This information is fed back to the leader, who takes all that information and announces (or doesn't if it can't be worked) to the entire group which Dynamis is going on and the time. Perk of being a leader. After this is out, it's back on the officers to look over all the charts and details for drops. X person has Y points so gets priority on Z item. Of course, that's assuming you use DKP. I personally endorse it, as it is the most transparent form. Also, another job for an officer: Making sure to keep track of the points, probably in a locked thread or page that only they can edit so everyone can keep track of. I'll admit I'm not particularly sure how XIV works as far as that is concerned, which is why I picked olde Dynamis.

Keep in mind, it's best if you have one officer per task. One to deal with finances, one for the DKP, one for recruitment, one for scheduling (for the event and for keeping track of who is showing up), and for whatever else. Officers are busy enough, so delegating the duties to as many people as appropriate is best.

Anyway, the day of the event comes up, and the final task of the officers is to make sure there's group synergy. The squishies have enough healing and adequate protection to accomplish the mission. Prior to actually entering the event to make sure everyone has adequate equipment to make sure the mission is successful. If you need potions to get to a location, or healing items, or what have you. It isn't their job to supply that, but to make sure everyone else has it. If they don't, the officers and leader can assist but should not supply unless they have an overabundance of the items in question. After all, they are going in as well and if they run out of the needed equipment because they gave it to someone else then they are, in turn, becoming the problem itself. You're in a leadership position, it is imperative that you lead by example and always have what you need. Running out of needed supplies is twice as bad for you as it is for the general populous.

Once inside, it's the leader's job to, well, lead. They decide when to advance, when to retreat, the pace you go, and must know which direction to get to the objects, what is required to complete objectives, and to call tactics and tactic changes in the midst of battle as it were. This is where officers get to take a break, as it were, and become just another brick in the wall. The leader leads, and everyone else makes sure to listen and to complete the set objective.

Overall, the leader decides, the officers plan, and everyone does.

o0o Hi2u Bartel! Looks like the Phase 3 joker is coming up in ze world ^^ . I must have entirely missed the thread(s) leading up to you taking up leadership position... or simply forgot, but it's not easy eh? Over here on Shiva, these guys more or less forced me into an officer position. It's annoying sometimes - We've got like 210 members, and they all talk about the strangest things... x.x. Anywho, GL clown :P
