I am currently level 13 alchemist. I have leveled weaver, carpenter, leatherworking to 15 already and I was just wondering about the skill tricks of the trade. As of right now, I only get poor synthesis quality about every 5th or 6th synth. When leveling my other crafts to 15 and beyond, is it worth it to take up a cross-class slot for Tricks of the trade for an extra 20 CP every 5 or 6 synths? Currently my two cross-classes are Careful Synthesis and Waste Not. I am thinking of swapping Careful Synthesis for Rumination though and I was wondering whether that would be more reliable than Tricks or the Trade?

Get Rumination. When you hit 18 you'll have Standard Touch, which is 100% success with Steady Hand up. This is what your Good/Excellent conditions should be used for.

The only practical use for Tricks of the Trade is when you get that Good condition with 10 durability left, and it would otherwise go to waste.

Careful Synthesis is great, but you also get 100% success with Basic Synthesis + Steady Hand. It's virtually useless at 31 when you have Standard Synthesis + Steady Hand.

Depends on whether you are trying to HQ or not. If you are trying to HQ, there are plenty of times when you stack buff and you would rather Tricks of the Trade because you can't Touch yet (still stacking more buff). It's a free 20 CP at those time. At other time you would want Good condition to hit Touch for quality. Excellent is even better but there's no ability to manipulate that condition (personally my record is 1314 Quality in one Touch (Byregot's Blessing) on Rosegold Nugget which is 1 star lvl 50).

Careful Synthesis is better than Steady Hand. Careful Synthesis cost 0 CP. If you are determined enough you could get Careful Synthesis II which is even more awesome. Steady Hand is when you want to use Quality touch but scared they fail (70%/80%/90%) or Rapid Touch (50%).

All in all, crafting is more situational and calculation rather than one static method.

I haven't been able to log in since saturday due to 1017, hopefully not tonight :P. So when can you use tricks of the trade? There are four conditions (that I know so far). Poor, Normal, Good, Excellent. Which of these conditions are valid procs for tricks of the trade? Just poor? Poor and Good?
