Guide: Crafting EXPFollow

By now everyone is on the "Fate" band wagon for DoW/DoM leveling, so this creates a unique opportunity to level DoH (crafting) jobs. This is just a short and sweet guide for how to best get exp while still being decent at all crafts. Mostly i need help confirming this as well as getting a list of triples.

Leveling with Leves
So the key to leve's is to understand how they work.
1) Bonus exp, item number, and high quality:
If a leve requires 1 item and you turn in a HQ item, it gives a +200% bonus. So if it would normally give 5000 exp, you get 5000 + 10,000 exp!
If a leve requires 3 items, 1 HQ + 2 NQ gives a 66% bonus, 2HQ + 1 NQ = 150 (i think), and 3 hq = 200%.

2) Triples:
Some leves will request an item (or x3 of an item) of a tier below you. AKA a level 20 level that requests a level 15-20 item. The best example is in quarrymill, there is a weaver level for level 20 that asks for 3x level 16ish hats. When you go to hand in the 3 hats, they will ask if you would like to craft some more, then again. In affect, he has you turn in 9 hats... but you get 3x the reward. So a 5k leve gives you 5k the first , second, and third time. Now if you hand in all 9 has HQ thats 5k + 10k, three times, all for 1 leve request. It is the same total exp as if you did it 3 times without the triple hand in, so you just save a leve request

3) Leve rewards
Sometimes a leve can reward you with a crafting supply, EG a weaver leve might reward you with diremite web. It is not guaranteed, and seems to change per game day, but for that whole game day you can load up. From what I have seen a level 20 leve will reward with level 20 items. So any level 20 leve from any location for weaver COULD reward with diremite web, it just depends on which one currently has it during that specific game day. I know in quarrymill i was getting lightning crystals with the single item leve rewarding diremite web. Game day changed and i was getting wind crystals and no more web. Again needs further confirmation.

My recommendation:
Use single item Leve quests with HQ items for exp. I made about 5-6k just making the 1 item, then 25k on the single hand in of the item at level 21. Made it to 25 in about an hour. This is faster then the ones that require 3 (non triples) and gives the same exp/leve.

Use triple leves with NQ items for easy components. Wait for something like diremite thread to show up on the triple then you get 3x 10 diremite thread for 1 leve.

Leve's are great for crafting classes. I got to almost level 29 alchemy in about 1 day and I still have around 50 allowances left. I haven't really found a use for leves outside of crafting because its really easy to level up a fighting class with all the fates and dungeons you can grind.

I just been saving my allowances have not used any. Won't use any till I absolutely need or closing in on the limit. Once I hit around 30-40 in all my crafts then I will use them.

Its a nice guide but i think leves should be used firstly on Botany and Mining as those two are THE most painful things to level without leves.

Botany/Mining > Crafts/Fishing > DoW/DoM imho

in order of which needs more.

I disagree, based on the sheer XP rewards. One single crafting leve at level 30, if HQ'd, can yield over 70,000 crafting experience. I did a level 30 armorer leve and gained 71.6k experience. I did a level 30 mining leve and gained about 15k experience. So the crafting leve is more than 4x more efficient than the gathering leves. Gathering might not be the most exciting thing ever, but it's considerably less efficient to use leves for it than for crafting.

It takes average 10 gathering leves for a level at 40+ and the bonus are nothing exciting. The real kick is that you waste time gathering stuff that are taken away once the leve ends. The only plus is that you get GP restore potion which is otherwise unobtainable.

Yep crafting leves are the best! There is a level 35 cooking leve that yields 172k exp points! Finding ingredients at this level and higher are tough...I've yet to do a level 40+ crafting leves. Can't wait to see how much exp that yields!

Once I started being able to craft items that people actually wanted to buy, and discovered I can actually make gil doing so, I have never had to want for EXP for my crafting class since I am constantly replenishing my inventory. Although I have had to start mining for crystals recently since I refuse to pay those outlandish prices. Must be in high demand because I can't see any other item as overpriced as those crystals. Good for miners I suppose.

The great thing is that the leves are repeatable. I got 4 levels of CPR today repeating the same leve 25 times. Such a nice change from 1.0 where crafting was just a pain to level.

I've been doing this today, at level 16 now and it took me about half the time it took to level Lancer to the same level haha.

I have a question though, how do you craft HQ items? Basic Touch fails about two thirds of the time, meaning I can barely get the HQ bar past 10%. I bought all the best gear I can find with as much +Control, +CP and +Craftmanship on it, but it doesn't seem to have made any difference.

This terrible success rate is even present on crafting stuff like Hard Leather, and I am double the level of the craft. The **** am I doing wrong, lol?

A) Start with HQ ingredients (but that can cut into the potential 300% EXP bonus for getting 100% naturally)

B) You get better touches later on.

C) Use Steady Hands.

It's harder starting off without at least the second tier of touch (which hands brings up to 100% unlike basic's 90%)

Okay so I have a question, and this may sound stupid to some of you who have advanced further in the game than I have, but are we able to use cross-class abilities in DoH jobs too?

Absolutely. I have a few cross class abilities that I use on every DoH (Waste Not, Ingenuity etc).

Fantastic... I'll need to level some other crafts then....

What cross-class abilities would you guys would recommend for an aspiring Culinarian?

And how can I put Materia into my armor? I'm a 30 LNC, but Culinarian is the only DoH job that doesn't have materia melding included. Is it possible to level one craft to a.) get some cool cross-class abilities for my Culinarian... and also b.) add materia into my armor? If so, which one so I can focus on that craft next.

How about gathering classes, do they use cross-class too, and does it have to be from DoL classes?

Sorry for all of the noobish questions.

Thanks! Smiley: grin

True Rhaya, the amount of exp you get from a battle leve is really low comparatively, but occasionally you can get a blue treasure chest with a dungeon drop. Not bad, but still, that is only occasionally, so I agree with you that the leves are more useful for crafting. I don't know about gathering, maybe it would be useful for fishing...

I use:

Waste Not from Leatherworker, Halves durability cost for the next 4 actions.
Tricks of the Trade from Alchemist: Restores 20 CP, can only be used when the material is in good condition (red).
Careful Synthesis from Weaver: Increases progress; 90% efficient, 100% success rate.
Ingenuity from Blacksmith: Lowers the level of the synth to your current level for the next 4 actions.
Manipulation from Goldsmith: Restores 10 durability after each turn for the next 3 turns.

Armor can be melded by the DoH that makes it. Your DoH class will have to be at an equal level to the equipment though. For example, a piece of level 35 armor will need a level 35 DoH to meld it.

DoL can cross class, but only with other DoL abilities.
