Gilsellers, it's good that char creation is locked?Follow

A little thought struck me just earlier.

They're opening a bunch of new servers, and are going to let more people log-in at the same time. But i very much doubt they're going to unlock character creation for the servers already in play for a bit, and most likely will just have new servers for that.

This got me thinking, wouldnt that actually be a good thing?

After all, we'd run out of Gilsellers eventually if everyone just keeps on reporting them. With no hopes of them re-creating a face-keyboard character for shouting, and possibly banning one or two farmers or even gil-account holders when they hand out the gil... i see nothing but quiet times ahead.

I didnt mind seeing the occasional tell, but yesterday i got bombed with several websites every 15 minutes or so. It was starting to get a little rediculous. I'd be happy if they all get locked out and ran out of characters to shout on or to farm on.

Thoughts?

Sadly, as long as there is a demand, they will find a way. The population will become steady over time. The people here on free trials will disappear. Server space will open up and the road will be paved. Actually, it already has. I've seen quite a few 'gil seller' groups already around Drybones.

To handle this problem, SE needs to address the source and perhaps learn from FFXI: do not create a game driven, largely, by gil. Instead, use the rare/ex loot method.

I agree that this is a nice temporary reprieve...but after having two gil sellers /tell me within the past week, I am a bit pessimistic. :(

To be honest, I've seen only one on Diabolos (Frosen Phoenix). I blacklisted him immediately, but really wish they had some way of reporting them in game. That would go a long way to combating the situation.

Help Desk -> Report Harassment -> input that it's a gilseller with name.

Gets them removed within a few minutes.

Thanks for that, but that is not available in game, if I'm correct, No? I'm aware there would be a way outside of game, but I'm sure not gonna log out when playing (Or even ALT TAB lest I get a random error) for fear of not getting back in and by the time I'm done and do log out, it has usually slipped my mind by then, Still, good to know the procedure. Thanks. :)

hit Escape, from the menu there you can select the "Support Desk" (my bad, i said Help Desk). Can be done from Ingame, no need to logout.
