Why do i have to spend gil to use a spell im casting? (teleport) i could understand paying others to teleport me (i.e in FFXI because theyre providing a service i cant provide for myself) but spending gil to use my own spell? thats like if a whm in FFXI lost gil every time they used a teleport spell...

Because it's a gil sink. Which you know perfectly well, but you just want to complain about, because based on your posts you like to complain.

What happens if you want to teleport and there is no NPC available to help you?

you pay a player to teleport you.. or you die and HP (hopefully you set it in a place where you now an NPC was) i could think of a million different alternatives

Fantasy world, primals, magic, death=knockout, what is exactly your point again?

On a more technical side, in order to balance the economy certain money sinks are required, before you needed to find and talk with an NPC to get where you were going, SE just removed the middle-NPC and let you do it yourself.

In FFXI, rangers and thieves lost gil every time they did damage. So it goes.

The official line from the NPCs in the game is that your fee goes toward paying the people who take care of the atherytes. That gold/brass alloy floating around them isn't going to polish itself.

What if you teleport, and nobody is around to see it, did you really pay? I think your problem is simply state of mind Smiley: dubious

They need to hire guards to maintain the crystals, and to prevent them from being destroyed by mobs. I thought the NPC told you why already.
