So my wife just took up fishing and, with happy surprise, showed me the fishing log -- a huge book that features descriptions and drawings of all the various things one can wrench from the water. I have to say, the amount of effort put into this log goes a long way to making fishing an interesting and obsessive craft. One doesn't always need a piece of armour with a higher number in each area to provide the motivation to play; sometimes just discovering small things is its own reward, and in a way this log represents that. I love things like this, little extra touches that make a game seem like an RPG from the good days.

This is basically a post made to say how much I like the fishing log. Sketches of kelp, shrimp, and clams really do make it that much more appealing.

Yes, I was also surprised how big it was. Running around trying to find that last fishing hole can be fun and maddening at the same time (and there are some beautiful caves to find...)

I'm curious what will happen at L50. I'm L49 right now, catching L50 fish and those are on page 7. I haven't touched pages 8 or 9.

And kudos to the localization team for the L50 class quest name: "So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish"
