Optomizing KB+Mouse for PS3Follow

Hi guys - I really like playing on my PS3, the graphics aren't as nice, but the load times are fast and consistent, and I like using the controller every once in a while.

What I am finding missing is the ability to do tricky targeting manuvers in dungeons and FATEs. I was wondering if anyone had a way to optomize the keyboard and mouse for PS3 use? I have a wireless one of each plugged in but I really only use it to select screens, etc - mostly because I have to hold ctrl+a/w/s/d to move among some other, minor, factors. I searched for a while to find a way to remap the keys to make it work better for me, but I seem to be unable to disable the feature that immediately starts me typing when I hit any alphanumeric character, instead of being able to map WASD to movement controls.

Any tricks, or a straight up pointed to get me to where I need to be to make that happen? Or am I being a baby and just need to become a savant at PS3 targeting?

No you're not being a baby. Targeting with the PS3 has been a pain for me too.

Targeting is my only complaint on PS3.

Under "Keybinds" you want to uncheck the little button that says "Enable Direct Chat". At the very top of the screen.

Thanks, I think I tried this earlier and something else went wrong in the process. Good to know that this is, in fact, the setting that I need to disable. I must have went wrong elsewhere.

Targeting with PC is probably just as hard. I think the game needs bigger "hit box" for targeting. I spam click on things to target them, normally landing on a player. I've had to turn off all names, when during FATE/Dungeons try to just click on the mobs name. It is a drag.

If anyone is marking enemies it becomes much easier. You can click on the mark to target, which is floating up above the mess of mobs and players.

Yeah I know of some who play on the PS3 that would really like a more sophisticated targeting method.

They also weren't able to find a way to rearrange their Hotbars to reflect using a Keyboard and Mouse, just had to rebind the Controller hot bars - which wasn't ideal for them - they would probably just use a mouse and keyboard entirely if they were able to do this. Anyone know if there is something they are missing? I know how to do it on PC, but the options seem lost on the PS3.

Yes, not only is the option not there but it never will be. The Devs stated that some issues are preventing the PC UI from working on PS3.

You can still hook-up a mouse and keyboard. You can turn Toggle Cross-bar on, leave one of the cross-bars active, and then click the buttons with the mouse pointer.

Yeah disabling direct chat should solve your problem. That, coupled with a few macros and keybinds makes targeting a breeze for me. I actually use controller, keyboard and mouse in tandem to great effect in the four man duty dungeons. Can't wait to try out my healer with some mouse over macros.
