Some Questions from some one considering the game...Follow

Hello, since I cant post on the official forums because you have to own a copy to do so, I have some questions that I cant ask there so i found this place. I don't know if this is the biggest non-official place out there but there seems to be enough ppl here. I have watched many videos but can only ascertain so much from them with out asking some one directly and on a side note I do know about all the non-sense that has been going on with the servers.

I am seriously considering playing this game but I had a couple of questions before I did.

First, I mostly play a healer and I was wondering what are the main differences between White Mage and Scholar, what can one do that the other cant? and Vise verse.

Second, what is rare in that game currently? I have been known to play tank every now and then as well and if it was incredibly rare I would not mind that either.

Third, is this game mostly instance based? or is there alot of open world to it as well?

Forth, what else is there to do when you reach max lvl besides the classic gear grind?

Is there anything else that I should know about the game?

Thank You in Advance~

A scholar has a lot more tactical options available to them than white mage. White Mage is locked into pure healing. The class from where white mage comes, conjurer, has some damage abilities and a few tactical options (DoTs and such), but not nearly the same versatility as arcanist or scholar do.

Conjurers and white mages are in dire short supply.

It's a blend of the two. Most questing and some battles are done in open world content. Other battles and dungeons are done in an instanced format. Some cutscenes are instanced, too. It's done this way so that the open world content can't interfere with you during critical battles.

You can level up other classes - you're not limited to one class. Many people enjoy the Disciple of the Land classes and just like to sit and relax and fish. It will take some time to level all the classes to 50, and by then SE may very well add more content.

The first twenty levels may make it seem ridiculously easy, but much of the target audience of the game never played MMOs so it's an extended tutorial for them. The game stops holding your hand by level 25.

You say that White Mages are in demand are they just outright better healers then scholars? I was under the impression that Scholars could heal a dungeon by them selves just with less healing power but more of some other trait.

A scholar will get you through a dungeon. Real end game content is gonna need a white mage.

It's because the Duty Finder only considers a conjurer to be a healer at lower levels, and slaps the arcanist into the DD slots. A white mage has more healing options than a scholar, at the loss of damage abilities. I have no doubt a competent scholar can handle a whole dungeon at endgame on their own, but I don't know if the Duty Finder puts them in the healer slot or not.

fair enough, my next question is is there any benefit to race/class combinations? are some races better at some jobs then others?

Every race will have two "clans" to choose from, like a sub race if you will. One will have a few more stats in their magic related, the other in melee related.

Were talking like a couple stats here so nothing major.

So basically, races are more for looks. You could argue that one race is the best at say, melee DPS because they have one more str than another race...but we are talking nominal amounts here.

Just go off what looks best to you...obviously the clan you choose at character creation should be more focused towards magic or melee. If you want to pay a few more bucks a month, and do the story line multiple times, you can make 8 character. Otherwise the cheaper sub is one character.

I thought I would make more than one character, but have already canceled the subscription and renewed with the cheaper on, I don't see a point to making a new character and I rather like the way my guy looks.

at char creation does it tell you which one gives more Magic power then melee power? im assuming that if I play healer I would want more magic power.
