So I finally figured out what it means when it says "Excellent" under "Condition" while crafting. It means your next Touch action will fail. :P

LOL Yea... that made me laugh whenever it would happen. If I recall, when it is in excellent, if you succeed in a quality increase, it greatly increases the amount of quality you gain. In reality, it's just the RNG trolling you.

Yeah, that's technically correct. It's about 2x a 'Normal'. Good yields about 1.3x a 'Normal'. It's just very rare, and it seems like either it only happens when I have 10 durability left and not enough CP for a mend, or my touch fails.

Crafting's pretty cool though. I definitely prefer this to the entirely-random brutality of FFXI crafting.

Nonono...

Normal: Your next action has a 50/50 shot... I don't really care what the success rate says.
Good: We're teasing you into thinking your touch actions have a shot at giving you more, really they're just going to fail
Poor: Go for it, we dare you
Excellent: I only show up at 10/X durability

Level ARM to 15.

Acquire Standard Touch

Level CUL to 15.

Acquire Hasty Touch.

Use all CP for MM and SH. Utilize HT to increase quality without losing CP.

When Good or Excellent comes up, use ST, and cackle maniacally as you achieve new quality gains heretofore unseen in the world of crafting.

But the game will still give you Excellent's when you need to use Master's Mend, or are at 10/X durability. Why? Because the Builder hates us I think.

Manipulation > Master's Mend. Same effect, but you get to manipulate condition better by opening with it or dropping it on Poor.

Just hit 18, then you have 100% success all the time with Steady Hand up, using Standard Touch and Basic Synthesis.

Great Stride + Byregot's Blessing at the end of the chain + Excellent = 100% HQ.
