It's rare when I still get to laugh at myselfFollow

so I've been selling things w/ my retainer for a week now, and never questioned where the money was going. I thought it was odd that I didn't get mail when I sold things like WoW, but figured the money was going somewhere.

This morning I look at my gold and go "MAN, I AM BROKE, WTF?" so I go check my retainer and 3-4 greens that I put up had sold, which didn't add up. Turns out I amassed about 80K and it's just sitting with my retainer. Just started laughing...

Once again I remind myself that you can't full your cup of knowledge without first emptying it a bit.

Sorry, maybe I wasn't clear. I didn't realize that when you sell on the boards the money geos to your retainer. I made an assumption and as a result ended up penny pinching for the last three weeks swearing the economy was broken and trying to figure how I was going to be able to repair my equipment when I kept running out of money. The game wasn't broken, I was just wrong.

lol, good post actually. I have been selling stuff on the retainer and haven't given a second thought to it. I just haven't seen any mail so I assumed nothing sold, I guess I need to go check my retainer and see if I got some more coin in there :)

You actually get a message in-game if people buy your stuff while you're logged in. It's pretty neat.

Then you have crap like 'you must buy 99 iron ingots' because they only sell them in stacks instead of individually for some reason.

Hey I need 32! Guess I buy 99! Makes sense to me

Yeah, there's options to buy stacks or singles. Singles sell for more than if you buy a whole stack. The same goes for bait, ammo, and numerous other things. It was this way in XI, too, because things like nin tools you could roll into a bag, then get 12 bags, which allowed you to carry 12*99 nin tools and only take up one slot, because everything stacked. You'd use one bag out of your 12, and it would open to a stack of 99 taking up a separate slot. It allowed you to carry a great many items without tying up inventory slots.

I think he's referring to the way people sell on the market boards. For the most part it's either stacks or indiviuals, so in his case he would be stuck buying a whole stack or trying to buy 32 individually. Quick tip, if you break your stack up into reasonable chunks when selling they seem to sell faster because people don't want a whole stack.
