Coerthas Central Highlands tower dive.Follow

The tall tower with the spiral stairs in First Dicastrial Observatorium of Aetherial and Astrological Phenomena.

Does anyone know at what level or how much HP you need to survive (if possible) jumping off this tower?
I don't have a lvl 50 class yet so that's why i ask.

I'm not exactly sure the HP or level exactly, but I can say as BLM between 37 and 45 whenever I jumped off of it I always survived with 1 HP remaining.

As long as you're not in combat, you should be fine. A friend of mine and I already jumped off it in beta. I'm sure everybody has, at least once. >.>

You can't die from falling no? You always end up with 1HP - unless you're in a dungeon or something, AK wall boss or Titan?
#5BartelX, Posted: Sep 17 2013 at 12:50 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Yes, you can die from falling. I haven't tried this tower, but if it's high enough, you'll definitely die.

You only die from falling if you have aggro. You should never have aggro in that tower, as I jump down every time I have to walk up those stairs for a quest.

You cannot die from jumping unless the game regards you in combat and maybe in dungeons. I jump from the top of that tower all the time and i always remain with 1 hp left. This has been consistent over three levels so the amount of damage from the fall has not been consistent.

The only times I have died as a result of a fall, I haven't been at full health due to aggro. It seems a long fall takes your max HP -1.

I was max hp once as level 8 monk and fell by accident, without agro, and died. It's possible, so I wouldn't test it that much. I was running to a fate and hte fastest way was over a cliff. Over I went and bam, dead.

You die if you have less than full HP when you jump off. I assume the damage is <maxhp> - 1, which makes death by falling possible.

I've died from a fall at max hp with no aggro, but only at very low levels (under 10).

Maybe they implemented the current system after this occurred to you. After many long jumps at full health with no aggro I can say that the current system is fall damage is maxed out at <max health> -1.

If you are at full HP you *should* not die from falling damage.

I have had it happen to me, and what it appears to be is if you hit something during your fall, you can "break" the 1hp catch (as the first part of the fall takes off X amount, leaving you below 100%, the next part of the fall takes off the remaining part killing you).

I'm too lazy to go digging for it but when fall damage was announced Yoshi explicitly stated you couldn't die from falling (assuming full hp).

I died the other day to a huge fall. I have taken some big leaps and always ended with 1hp, but this one was probably 3x the distance of my longest fall before that. I didn't have agro, I was at full HP, and I was mounted. You CAN die from fall DMG alone, it just takes a significant drop to do it.

What happened to your mount when you died?

Nothing, I just respawned at my bind point, dismounted. When I hit the ground my mount disappeared and I began the death animation. I waited on the ground for a few minutes but I was in a very low traffic area so I just returned.

Nitpicking, but wouldn't it be (MAX HP + 1), not (MAXHP - 1)?

Wouldn't Fall Damage @ Max HP + 1 be auto death every time?

Max Hp = 3000
Fall Damage = 3001 (Max HP + 1)

You = Dead

I guess that depends on if we're saying it's the damage received, or what the resulting HP would be.

I was thinking it's the damage received.

I've fallen and landed twice on jumps that were really high. Only ever died when I had agro. :)

Like Final Fantasy XI, the game specs will be extremely high for the time, but in about 5 years, an average machine can run it on max settings with little to no issues. Tanaka also expressed interest in making a benchmark program available.

I suppose on retrospect I cannot confirm 100% that my fall death was without agro. I know I didn't actively have any agro, but I suppose I could have had a straggler on me as I was running around looking for a quest giver and encountered the ledge by accident. I just remember that about halfway through the fall I was like "damn, this one might be it" and sure enough, I died. I didn't notice if I had anything on my enemies list so perhaps I am mistaken.

I do know prior to that fall I had been actively trying to kill myself from falls so I could get a sense of what a safe fall distance would be and never managed to die. However, when I fell off that last cliff I must have fallen for 5 seconds easy. I even got a knot in my stomach, which is rare anymore. I just assumed at that point that there is a safe distance up to a certain point that you would land with 1hp. I was assuming something like double or triple your MAXHP based on whatever formula they use to determine fall DMG.

I don't know if that's necessarily true either, because one day, I jumped off, landed on a platform below and lost about 50% of my hp, then I jumped again and still only ended up with 1 hp. I think you only die from fall damage if you have aggro. I'm going to test it tonight while I'm fate hunting.
