The Allagan Tomestone Expedition! Follow

So, I've been seeing a lot of buzz about these Tomestones. As you know they're for your Darklight Level 50 Gear in Mor Dhona (Revenant's Toll). But my question is which area gives the best amount with the least bit of trouble? Aurum Vale is a "Nay nay." for me. I completed it, not going back in there. Ampador Keep wasn't bad until I got up to Demon Wall and then the final boss. Who's giant glowing purple ball of death in the center of the map I some how missed. >.>

I don't know about Castrum since that's 8 people. I think it'd be a longer queue and I've never been inside Wanderer's like...at all. Praetorium was pretty fun, even though it did take a long time. So thoughts? Suggestions? Also does anyone know if the Hard Mode Primals give out Tomes?

I haven't quite hit the farm stage myself, but definitely been parsing information the best I can so I'll depart the insight that other's have been so kind to glean on me.

From my understanding Castrum is current "most efficient" and why so many new users to the dungeon are getting frustrated by those trying to run it as fast as possible for Tomestone collection. AK post-nerf just doesn't stack up especially because they added new packs into the instance. The HM Primal fights do give Tomestones, but I think the values are pretty negligible to farm at any sort of fast past.

Although, you will only gain Tomestones of Philosophy from this endeavor, where as AK bestows Mythology as well (so do the primal fights, but again not quite a great reward vs effort).

Castrum = 100 Philosophy
AK = 80 Philosophy and 40 Mythology

Not entirely sure about the others.

Get ready for castrum nerf like they did on AK, square does not like speed runs =D(probably on the amount of tomes given as they don`t wanna gimp new players on that dungeon)

Right now, I'm under the impression shouting up a group and doing speed runs of CM is the fastest Philosophy Tombstone farm. AK is pretty much the only source for farming Mythology at any reasonable pace. Anything is faster than the duty finder if you have a group that you spam the dungeon with together.

Castrum and Praetorium are both easy runs, but Prateorium is a bit faster. Both give 100 tomestones

incidentally, I've had very fast queue pops for CM when using Duty Finder. That and Wanderer's seem to be the easy DF pops.

Wasn't the uhh AK due to a glitch of some sort?

there was no glitch with AK, just tons of people spamming speed runs on it

Wrong.

AK (and Wanderer's Palace) were adjusted because people were bypassing *ALL* trash and using death+raise mechanics to just shoot right to the bosses. Speed run clears of CM involved semi-geared people that aren't stupid, pull only what they need to (there are superfluous packs by design), and utilize the Magitek cannons as much as possible to mow down trash.

It's not even a remote comparison.

In AK it used to be that that people could speed run into a safe zone in the boss area, while the pal dies and gets resurrected before the zone away from the other players, effectively removing hate to the party, allowing the boss to be fought safely. Now, purple blocking gates have been added at the boss zones to prevent that behavior. I personally don't care what version exists, as long as it is the same for everyone.

AK is a hard map unless you have ak gear, fully slotted your crafted armor with materia, and have ifrit weapon. It is a dance. You dont knwo the moves, you step on your partner's feet. The demon wall boss is both a dance and a gear check, especially for DD. Remember middle, sides, middle, sides, push, middle, sides, middle sides, push, then bees and the back half closes off with purple. Middle sides middle sides push repeat. Kill left bee first, monk or drg use lb on left bee. Tank gets the right bee until the left dies, all the while following the pattern. The first boss is a nightmare for the ps3 camera against that wall, and the final boss is hell if you cant get that purple orb to pop across the room after the purple line check (hint: gotta see it on you and run, and be spread out enough to realize that it is on you and not someone else). You dont have to be constantly stacked behind the statue. Only need to go there when he casts his big aoe. Also, anyone who is tanking the dragon with his face to the middle is subjecting all the rest of the party to the frontal aoe. Tanking him with his butt to the middle is an easier go because the back aoe from the tail extends farther out into the middle of the field and wont hit the party hiding behind the post.

I personally love wanderers. It gives about the same philosophy stones as ak, but no mythology stones (for those AF+1 armor). The armor and weapon drops are about 5 levels under the ak gear, but are better than AF gear. The first boss is a goobue, simple tank and spank, the second boss is a pudding with adds (just have the blm aoe and the other dd kill the blue one fast) and the final boss is the tonberry king who spawns adds constantly and one dd must kill those while the other hits the boss, and eventually the blm lb2 or 3 the whole area and the group zergs the king at the end. Most of the in between is avoiding the big tonberrys as they wander the hallways. Really easy map.
