Well you've ruined it now. By even mentioning your secret hobo thread purchasing it's probably "trending" now somewhere. Next people will be "tweeting" the locations of these pop up hobo thread shops and taking pictures of the thread to post on their facebook "walls"... GG on mainstreaming hobo thread.

You'll know hobo thread is mainstream garbage when CNN sends Wolf Blitzer to do a special report on "Hobo Threading", maybe throws up some visual on a green screen of Wolf re-enacting the process of purchasing thread from a hobo.

Pfft. I get the cotton to make my thread straight from the field.

I was SO about to make a deep south/slave name/and-or spiritual song reference, but then I remembered this isn't The Asylum.

I mention cotton and fields and the first place you go is a slavery reference?
You...you have some issues to work out, my friend.

I don't know what's wrong with me, but I bet it is worth a bucketload of points in Scrabble and really fun to watch people with speech impediments try to pronounce correctly.

So the mainstream web browser has pulled the results of "Fiddle Faddle"...

1. "Fiddle Faddle is candy-coated popcorn produced by ConAgra Foods. Introduced in 1967, the snack is commonly found in discount and drug stores."
2. "fid·dle–fad·dle. noun \ˈfi-dəl-ˌfa-dəl\. Definition of FIDDLE-FADDLE. : nonsense —often used as an interjection."

Sheesh... even Fiddle Faddle is a Fiddle Faddling mainstream term!!

This Fiddle Faddled thread is now too Fiddle Faddling mainstream, I say we cut our losses and try a new Fiddle Faddled name for Fiddle Faddle.

Pfft. I get the cotton to make my thread straight from the field. That makes it 87.68% more organic.
87.68 is an actual number. Actual numbers are facts. That's a fact.

Sir, don't you come in here and presume to fact me in the face. 4 out of 3.5 doctors (the 0.5 isn't an actual doctor, I think it's a dog in a lab coat) agree that facting people without their consent is mildly untoward.

So why start using th eterm with FFXIV? That is what Im getting at. I mean if wew're gonan name everything the way its done now why arent we and SE calling our characters "Toons"? You use that term regarding FFXIV on these boards and people go ballistic

Can't wait to get home and log on my "toon" to do some "Fiddle Faddling" with my "Incorporation Fellows". I'm going to kill the "Green Siren" and hope she drops some "swagg" I can use to "Power-up" my current "Attacking object". YAY!

Why NOT call them raids? Raid is an easily understood term for anyone who's even been remotely aware of MMORPGs over the past decade, and not necessary just those people who played FFXI. I'm sorry that you're opposed to easily communicating ideas to people, but that's really a problem you're going to have to deal with yourself.

Especially considering the term "raid" didnt come into existence/get popular with the release of WoW. Raids has been being used in MMOs before FFXI, during FFXI and After FFXI... even one of the first mmo (everquest and ultima online) used the words "raid"/ Despite all that SE decided to be different with FFXI. Why not continue the trend with XIV. It is better to "innovate" than to "imitate"

Using a different word for the same thing is innovation?

Thesaurus-writers all over the world will be thrilled.

Yoshida gave talks about this a number of times. But the headline version is you can't innovate in a vacuum. You don't make a better car by gathering engineers who've never heard of or seen a car before and expect that the car they do create will be better than the cars we already have (which was almost exactly the strategy used for 1.0). You learn from what is out there already, master it, and improve upon it bit-by-bit.

Most new mmos do the same, having said that of course it's never a good idea to try to build a player base off wow players.

Oh look it's Killua's older brother!

Yes, because clearly World of Warcraft was the very first MMO to use the terminology raid.

Oh, wait. You mean to tell me that FFXI is the old man out trying to use random words for simple terminology that was accepted before it was even created! Oh no, obviously preludes is the genius because WoW is the only MMO to ever use the word "raid" and thus we're trying to appeal to only WoW players.

It's a **** video game. There's nothing professional at all about the word raid or alliance. If anything, using the actual intention behind the word raid is more professional simply because it actually describes the group and what you intend to do.

Coming up with new words to try to 'not be mainstream' with the already established terminology isn't 'professional'. It's called trying to be a unique snowflake. You know, like WHM/WAR?

from gameplay style to even terminology. I just thought of the fact that they specifically called the Crystal Tower a 24 man raid. even the players call it as such. I'm going to give you what you want to hear. FFXIV ARR is a WoW clone. It's best for business, that's why they did it. JP franchises are dying and they've sold out to the Western concepts. Capcom is so broke, they only have like 150mil left in the bank. FFXIV 1.0 almost bankrupted SE. The Wii U is dragging down the Big N. So yeah, FFXIV is a mainstream title. FFXIII was their first shot at it, now FFXIV ARR seems to be their definitive version. I know some people will be ******* but let's just admit it and move on.
