Sync Hot Bar & Gear Set List ? Follow

#1 Sep 26 2013 at 9:03 PM Rating: Decent
Is there a way to sync the hot bar & gear set list between PC and PS3?

I play FFXI between these two consoles, and I noticed that the Hot Bar & Gear Set list aren't sync.

Is there a way to solve it?

I know it's possible to migrate your settings (including hotbars and gear sets) between clients on a PC.....but I don't know about the PS3. Doing it on the PC requires moving files around, and access to the PS3's filesystem isn't a normal thing to have.

In a recent interview, Yoshi simply said it was in the works, but gave no timeframe for when we would be able to save settings to the server and restore settings from server.

Damn this sucks. I just bought the PS3 version last night and started it up only to learn none of the bars sync. I really hope they implement a way to sync because I don't feel like having to update gear sets between the two every time I level.

Semi-related note...Is there a way, like there was in 11, to copy the user data settings for hotbars and stuff over between PCs? I'm sure there must be - just haven't found the folder yet to do the odd spot of mining on my laptop (not much since my laptop has the battery life of a gnat).

Documents/My Games/FFXIV and then you will have a bunch of character folders (or maybe just one).

Copy all the .dat file in that folder onto a USB and then paste them over the .dat files on the other PC in the same location.

The .DAT files have name like:

Gearsets:
gearset.dat

Hotbar Buttons:

hotbar.dat

Macros:
macro0.dat

GamePad:
COMMON.DAT

Controller Settings:
CONTROL0.DAT

Keyboard Settings:
CONTROL1.DAT

Yeah, the inability to easily sync between PS3 and PC is what's mainly keeping me from getting a PS3 copy right now.

you can take this one step further by automatically syncing the two folders using a service like dropbox or google drive. someone on reddit posted a nifty little guide on how to do it :
