The solo instanced battles.

Been trying to beat Sinking Dosmaga for over a month. Of course without it I cannot get smn or sch and my character is really not up to doing the main story quests. There is no information online and of course I cannot just overpower it with a high level character. Same problem with my other characters. I reach a point I cannot go farther, even they are 50 legacy characters. Have a 50 conj but cannot use all my spells so I am not a good healer. Much prefer FFXI rank system. You kind of need to do it but you get to have a party with you and there is information available on how to do them.

Other people have done it and you will too. If they made it too easy, there would be no satisfaction in accomplishing certain things. Sooner or later we'll be seeing more guides online for some of the harder battles.

these fights are meant for you to use your class the way it was meant to be played. This means making best use of your summons and skills.

It took me 2 tries to beat it because the first time the NPC died.

--------------------------------------
anyway what i did was this:
summon TANK pet to help keep adds split up and not on one single person. Usually the NPC will be tanking the boss which is fine for now, but if left alone too long he WILL end up killing her.

What you want to do is kill off the weaker pirates first, while also watching your NPC friend and carby health bars. Toss out heals on the NPC, and heal/re-summon carby when his health is getting low. I prefer to summon him again right as hes about to die. Don't wait until the NPC is almost dead to start healing her, do it as early as possible

Once the adds are down you can easily heal the NPC. You can also try to grab hate and kite the boss around the stairs of the ship.

Like any other battle the kill order for adds should be: Healers -> mages -> melee -> boss
--------------------------------------

so yeah this battle is just meant to put all your skills to use, and to make sure you understand the job. I hope this healped and good luck!

"Meant to be played" to an extent. My LNC 40 quest basically required me to tank mobs to keep NPC combatants alive. Job quests like to throw in a wrinkle or two outside of your normal responsibities.

I struggled with this fight as well.

Miasma made all the difference in the world and take out the named characters first (pretty sure they are the healers). After that, just gotta get lucky where the NPC stands so they don't get hit by a bunch of aoe moves from the mobs. Can't control that.

the most i had trouble with the class quests ive done was the level 20 acn quest in the bridge, 3 tries and i was lagging like crap

those quests are made to make you use your class in the correct way, like how most of thm quests were made 200 times easier if u knew what sleep was.

I had trouble with the one where you had to fight the lalafell pug that went rogue, out in southern thanalan. He ended up killing the other lalafell, and I got killed by the big cat and his wannabe Blaster attacks.

This took five tries.

I get what you are saying I had trouble on my blm quests but it's a learning experience the only thing that might make sense to do is let multiple ppl doing the same quest enter the field but if they do this I would say up the difficulty abit so it doesn't become ridiculously easy.

If you have trouble with the solo quest, remember that it does allow an upper level cap higher than the level you get the quest. Level up some more, get some better gears, things will get a lot easier.

I had to do the last Warrior fight a few times as I had a level 50 MRD from 1.0 (never played WAR) and didn't really understand the job. The instance fight I had the most trouble with was the level 41 inquisitor fight (mission before The Stone Vigil). The instance is capped at 44 but I tried it on 41 MNK and PUG several times before managing the win, it actually became a bit of a cause for me, I refused to level MNK more until I finished this fight.

I can sympathize because as a DPS I haven't had too much trouble with solo stuff, but as a CNJ and ARC my fiance has had trouble with those solo instances too. They really made it tougher on the healers since they can't kill things as fast, and you can't just heal your way through the instances.

I don't understand why they did this, but I guess if you're going to be a healer end-game you need to be a total badass is what SE is saying.

Hmm. I have to say that some of these solo instances have been the most fun and excitement I've had with the game. So, I politely disagree.

All classes have a "save" the NPC in a solo instance at some point from what I've seen. The Archer/Bard was a good one.

I like the challenge of these instanced fights. I beat Sinking Dosmaga on the 2nd try. Use the circle on the ground as it gives you a reduced damage taken buff for a short while. Move in and out of it to keep the buff up while keeping DoTs up on the pirates and using your tank pet. Start by focusing on the NPC's target and spread out from there. Basically, use everything you've learned on ACN up to this point.

I abuse the **** out of DoTs. They're fast casting and long lasting, so you can toss DoTs on monsters and then spam cures on the NPCs that need it.

The only danger is eventually running out of MP on conjurer, but ethers are cheap and plentiful and can help in a pinch. THM never has that problem.

For the THM quest the guy even tells you to use Sleep...if you actually read what he says that is.

The CNJ quest is similar, the story tells of a girl whose mother died because she refused to use the other elements of nature, stone, aero, etc. E-Sunni yells you outright to use the other elements to survive. Guess what happens if you don't do anything but heal in the class quests!

I'm really starting to think the people who get so frustrated would have an easier time if they paid an ounce of attention to the story and what questgivers say...or just read the **** journal entry for an abridged "how do I beat this" version.

The gladiator quests also tell you that your job is to charge in headfirst and hold aggro off the other people in your group.

Just about EVERY quest giver in the game gives you hints or flat out tells you what you need to do to complete it.

You may just have to study your class a little bit more to find the best rotation for the solo event in question. Sometimes it take me 1-2 failures to see what the solo event is trying to get me to do to win the scenario. You might be able to see some YouTube posts of the solo event. One of the first things that I do is make sure that my gear isn't more then 7 levels below the minimum level for the solo event. One event that I failed twice with my Arcanist, I had 5 pieces of equipment that were 10 levels below the event. I purchased some cheap gear and it turns out my initial tactics were fine, I just wasn't getting the most out of my spell rotations.

I dont see but 1 person mention this....

ECHO BUFFS

Each time you die in a solo instance you get an echo buff as long as you dont change jobs/log out. Die 5 times in a row at level 30 and you will have level 40ish hp/dmg stats. Just bind in the same zone as the instance so when you die you can revive and save the tp fee.

Its not pretty, and u learn nothing about your class, but it works and was put in the game for exactly this reason.

CNJ level 50 battle im looking at you. Stupid stupid hard fight, compared to war 50 where you run in a circle and the mob dies. Even monk was a joke as long as you dodged the ae.
