hi friends :)

in my quest for making the ui more minimal and add to the immersion factor of the game, i was thinking about some things... first, it's not a big deal but i think i'd like to disable that huge text that pops up when you accomplish things like QUEST COMPLETE DUTY COMMENCED, etc. i poked around in the options but i dont think i could find anything to turn it off. is this something i can disable?

also, i noticed the click filter (set to "x" by default) is really handy, its used to hide/filter certain names when you press and hold the x key. but it got me thinking—it would be way super cool if i could disable all floating names and assign a key to enable floaty names when i need to see them. is this possible? i tried playing with the click filter options but it didn't seem to want to work that way...

also if you guys have any more ui / hud customization tips for making the game more immersive i would be interested in hearing them!!!

much appreciated and thank you :) :)

I've not changed much. I split my chat log in two, so one is for linkshell and free company chat. The most useful thing that I have found though is enabling hotbar 2 with controller function UI and adding non-combat commands to it such as summon chocobo, run, return, eat food, summon mount.

As far as turning off screen announcements, no, I don't think you can. You can, however, change how all player/party/npc names are displayed to either all/none/when in combat, or when hp below 100%.

I like to set combat effects for other players off. This dramatically cuts down the epileptic causing shiny lights and animations when in a party, but more importantly, for the 30+ zerg Fates you run into.

If a tank, set tab targeting (while in combat) to only cycle enemy and aggroed enemy. This way you won't waste time trying to cycle through the mobs you pulled, and those at the other end of whatever area you are in.

Set separate chat tabs and color the options. I have essentials, such as /tell and /fc, and /pt different colors and everything else an off white. This allows me to easily see whats important while the clutter filters by.
