advises fo a noob lancerFollow

Hi I am a lancer playing for the first time an MMORPG since about 15/20 days.
I just got lvl 31 lancer with some cross class ability (protection, cure, raging strikes ... planning in the future for second wind and featherfoot).
Yesterday evening I beated Brayflox's Longstop but it was hard (our party did about 5/6 attempts just for the final boss), and just a the end , with two bars of my limit break we won.
So for the future seems that the things will became more difficult ...Smiley: mad
my gear are just taken from vendors and are of my level
I was thinking ... perhaps it is better that I level a marauder to 15 to became dragoon (is it better so ??)
Or perhaps I should take some buff before the most difficult battles (I never did so); are those buffs (meals, potions etc) good ? do they stack ? (I mean can I take more than one to have advantage or not ?)Smiley: oyvey
What to do to have an easier life in progressing the game ??Smiley: lol avoiding too much stressing Smiley: cool

Jobs are definitely the way to go for party play, so I would recommend playing Marauder. MRD > LNC anyway (imho)!

It's also a good idea to get to understand the mechanics of the other classes as it'll improve your overall play and appreciation of what other players can do.

I bought most of my gear off Vendors up to about level 35, then I started to buy (or make) more HQ items as the dungeon instances get a lot harder.

Grats on your Brayflox win, you've graduated from the Milk Runs and are now entering the real thing!

I'll agree with Solomon, especially on the need to understand the mechanics of other classes.

Something I realized as you get to the tougher stuff, starting with Manor and anything I've run after...so much of a boss fight is actually about how well the DPS are able to avoid the targeted abilities that go away from the tank and how they are able to react and adjust to the environment and interactions required (such as the lanterns in Manor). Being able to understand your role and how you fit into the group is essential as you get to the tougher stuff.

Grats on Brayflox...got some fun dungeons ahead, but definitely will test you :)

thank you for the answer but, regarding the gear, the loot of the dungeons that I did seems to be not good for me (at least until now ... perhaps I am unlucky :::).
I would like to know if is good to eat those meals that buff some of yr stat and if those can stack (I mean if I take two or three ... what happen ?)
Where to by "HQ" items ? To make them it is necessary to start as a craft class (I imagine) (I imagine that craft, harvest or mining is not so fun ...)
And one last thing ... I have noted that some gear (iron, steel) give high defense and some item (also at level more high) give less so ... no reason to change and buy that higher item ??

Food helps, but you can only have one meal at a time.

An HQ item is an ordinary item that has been crafted to a higher quality, and give slightly better stats - if you click on my character name in my sig you'll see some items on my lodestone profile are shiny! These are HQ items - you will see them at the AH marked with a sort of shell shaped icon - same as monsters are marked for your hunting log, so you don't have to start crafting to get HQ stuff, you can buy it, crafting them is cheaper though.

You'll notice that there are basically two types of heavier armour - one for Tanks (high Def and Parry) and one for DPS (high STR and Skill Speed), although some can be worn by all DoW.

thank you again,
I did not note the skill speed ... (just the value for defense)
what change with the skill speed ? is worth to look more at the def stat or skill speed ?

Skill Speed shortens your Global Cool Down (GCD) on abilities. Basically it will shorten the time needed to reuse them slightly. You can also add materia to items that does the same thing.

Get the DRG job stone for stat boost. Other than that, DRG Job abilities are lackluster at best and not very useful, only rarely used like when you need an extra AoE or need to get close quickly.
