I've turned in the leve: Flintstone Flight (3 Walnut Macuahuitl) three times tonight and the item reward has always been 5 oak logs. I just picked it up for a forth time and the item reward this time is a Rotting Round Shield !!
Nice! That will be kept in storage until I'm brave enough to try the synth to improve it.

It happens quite a bit. I did 3 Armorer leves and the reward was a Dented Celata twice. You see it a lot if you spam leves like I do 
I did fever pitch(I think thats what its called) and it gave me 44 fire or water shards when it normally gives me 4.
All tradecraft leves have a few different rewards that they cycle through randomly. The reward may be a small number of shards, a large numbers of shards, several of a staple crafting ingredient (e.g. oak logs), or a piece of gear that is used as part of a recipe to improve it (e.g. Rotting Round Shield). The reward can change each time you complete a leve (can be a completely unrelated leve).
