I haven't had any issue using the Exit Game button from the main login screen. I do exit FFXIV first via in-game commands (either inn room bed, Exit Game or /shutdown), then I access the menu on the system. Are you just straight up using Exit Game from the PS3 menu?

I have had it happen. I exit normally through the game, and instead of bringing up the log in screen it goes black. Then when I power off it takes several seconds then beeps 3 times. This has happened since the last update.

Same, every time I exit the game since the last update it crashes the PS3. Before the update, it would happen but very rarely.

Hmm, hasn't happened to me as yet. Are you guys on PS3 slims? Or the first gen models? Maybe there's a correlation there.

PC has been requiring a ctrl-alt-del to fully shutdown XIV every time I log since last patch.

I just got that myself.

Good to know it it isn't just me.

This hasn't happened to me lately, but previous versions of this game have caused my PS3 to immediately power off when exiting. It's an older version PS3, maybe not v1 but probably v2 (80 GB HD, large size, matted).

I have had to run a system restore on it once which was an automatic process. So far no damage or data loss. Hopefully they will get this ironed out.

Wow it's not just me.....Microsoft did the Tuesday update and I've been doing the three finger salute ever since. I don't want to try to tinker window media player yet if it's connected to the EU problem.

I've tried turning the PS3 off entirely instead of exiting FFXIV first, and it still crashes (three beeps before turning off). I'm not sure which model I have, it's a recent one (stock 250gb hard disk). It's the only issue I have thouth, other than that the game runs fine.

Maybe you can do what I do and just log off from the FFXIV menu then use the PS button to close the game.

Have you tried it that way?

It crashed on logging out too, when I tried. The only way I have seen to return to the start menu without crashing is to stand still for 30 minutes and get kicked out. I'll try again though.

Edit: Tried Hairspray's solution again, it worked.

PS3 slim here, have had this happen to me as well since the update. I use the "Exit Game" through the start menu, and it doesn't always close, just goes black and eventually resets the ps3.

Working as intended.
It's supposed to, if it doesn't you should really reset your ps3 yourself. If you intend to play a different game especially another online game
Nothing worst then getting graphics lag on other games because all the resources are still busy.

Not working as intended. It's also affecting PC users.

Slight derail here, sorry.

Anyone else annoyed how the Logout/Exit game is handled by the PS3 version? Don't get me wrong I love the game and especially the PS3 version. But the logout/exit mechanic is screwed up in my opinion.

Logout isn't logout, it's actually "stay in your account; just select another character."

Exit game isn't exiting, no it restarts the launcher! Yes, it's actually restarting the launcher, as if it wants to reel me in for a second session. No thanks, I chose "exit" for a reason!

For me it would be perfect if Logout would be renamed to "Change character/world" and "Exit game" would actually drop me into the XMB.
