If job forum is dead, will repost in general at later date.

So I go OOM pretty fast on boss fights is seems. Wondering if there is any gear (stat) that I should be aiming to get that helps me refresh mana? I just ran Sunken Temple with a friend, so I was synced down (currently lv 42 or 43), so I did not have Refresh.
Every boss fight, by the time the Boss was at 50%, or heck even 25%... I'm freaking out. No mana. Using cure 1 in hopes for a free cure 2 (to throw at tank).
I take in pots, use them when I get to 50% Mana to try and regain some MP...
But holy **** balls. I have to be doing something wrong. Gear is the only thing maybe?

What does your rotation look like?

WHMs are really helped out by their shroud. Not much you can do if you're syncing down. However, if you're tossing around regen or medica carelessly (or spamming esuna), this can drop your mana very fast! Same with stoneskin when it isn't necessary. Actually, I'd say regen is usually the culprit.

It gets better at 48 when you get enhanced shroud too.

Also, it may not be you. Are you checking your tank's gear? And what about their rotation? Are they using defensive cooldowns properly? I find that, a majority of the time on SCH, my tanks do not use their cooldowns properly (if at all).

Gear will help but all of yours is up to date and your weapon is good so I don't think that's the problem here.

Remember: you can cross class some very useful abilities like virus and eye for an eye. These will help you and the tank. They're also 0 MP cost and instant cast.

Can't speak for friend's (who is GLD) rotation.

Can't say I really have a rotation. Before a fight I Stone Skin everyone, make sure Protect is on everyone. During a fight put regen (and try to keep it on) on tank, and use cure 1 when 20-30% of HP is missing. If there is a big AE and Tank and Melee all get hit, I will apply regen on DPS as a HoT seems better then cure1 spam?
Use cure 2 only if someone drops below 50%, but normally I don't touch C2 unless it is "free." I've not even used cure 3 yet lol, just sits there on my bars. Only time I use medica is if we all take big damage and a AE heal would help get us all back over 50% (major hate builder, so it is hardly used)

I do not normally reply stoneskin during boss fights. The only time I do is when I think it is actually helping, and it is usually only on to the DPS. 10% on a tank is like 1 hit, so I feel it is a waste, but on a DPS it could be a cure or 2 I didn't have to waste if they didn't step out of action area or if adds were not picked up fast.

Yeah you do mainly what I do. I stoneskin DPS if it's a fight where they may get hit by a targeted attack or AoE but it's really not MP efficient as SCH.

If it's a fight where spike damage isn't an issue, don't bother with regen on DPS. Try to keep them up with cure 1 if you can. On most fights, the AoE that hits the DPS usually doesn't do more than a cure 1 outside of a few special ones.

For instance, I'd probably use medica on the golem fight in Sunken Temple since that's a fair amount of AoE damage and the DPS can easily be targeted by a cone/punch follow up. On the first boss, though, I'd stick with cure 1 if they manage to end up tanking some of the bees or get cleaved by the first boss.

Other WHMs can probably give you better advice. :)

It sound to me that you guys spend mp pretty efficiently, and if you are getting OOM the blame may be on the tank and DPS's, there are 2 main factors for the front line to become an MP sponge:

1) They are severely under-geared (less common cause)
2) They are not dodging enough (most common cause)

Specially the tank, she can't just sit there and hammer the rotation, maybe on those levels SCH is still able to keep up due their amazing MP recovery, but WHM certainly can't. Really there are no reasons not to dodge, it should come before everything else (unless you can stun the attack) sadly FATE-made party members are usually not that stellar at dodging.

Yea I think I need to have a talk with him. He tries to get out of action area but sometimes...yea.
Not sure if ps3 or if he just isn't always ready to dodge (I'm always ready to move..).
Also need to ask if he is using Cure at all (I said he was GLD, but he is PLD). Seems if he was curing himself often (or even more often) fights might not be so bad.

It's not really feasible like it was in 11 for the PLD to cure himself. I sometimes stick stoneskin on myself and others throughout a dull fight but other than that, the current PLD mechanics have us focused on a combo that ties us to the GCD and has little time during the combo to do other things. Also, the enmity gained for casting cures on yourself or others is pretty crappy. ; ;

yea I wish there were 2 GCDs or have more abilities that do not share the same GCD.
