Is there any out of dungeon level 50 mobs? I found my chocobo companion at lv50 so the highest and best 217 exp spot for him is in a Coerthas a lv49 beastman stronghold with a 4 box fate that was a easy solo. The past few days "Chocobo parties" found the place and the fate, leave one box and fast respawn means that spot gone. The spot was great because the dragon fight was 3 towards a 3K achievement. Walking around the outside world looking for a new grind spot, lv49 is the highest I see.I'd even unlock the Isles of umbra If some 50s was on there. Maxing all DoH up to two stars makes Chocobo grinding feel relaxing.

I'm pretty sure i've seen some 50's in and around bluefog. Near the garlian base i think. Same for the base west of Revenant's Toll.

Either way, easiest way for your chocobo to get maximum experience, is to change into a lower level job and summon him on there. There's no reason at all why you wouldnt be able to summon him on even a level 1 class. Some of the party-based fates are nice too, the fates themselves dont give you any choco-exp, but any and all claimed monster that dies in the onslaught does. Really fast and easy Choco-exp that way.

Go due east of Wineport too. The little "Base" has level 50 magitek mobs in it. Had to kill them for my GC hunting log.

The Garlean and beastman camps are some of the highest mobs in the game (this includes sahagins, which are currently completely pointless mobs, so you should have no problems finding a spot there).

I checked the beastman haunts and "Star Gate" area magitek mobs " Im guessing the level 50 mobs must be special to to GC leves. One thing I've learned walking around on a legacy server, there is a lot of lv 50 people trying to get Chocobos to level 10.

I have actually held off on leveling my archanist for this reason specifically. Since the exp you get for your chocobo is related to your class, it is far easier to level it with a class than to try to level it after you are done.

My only other recommendation for this would be to try level capped fates that don't have a lot of people. You should be able to get exp for your chocobo there. Especially the ones that have a lot of dink mobs.

I started THM this morning and was doing this as well. I really wish your bird got its own xp, rather than stealing from the total. You're basically gimping your xp gain by having the bird out.... suxorz

I'm mostly hoping for additional companions than just the choco. I liked how customizable the adventuring fellow was in FFXI and would love to see that expanded on here. So far, being able to switch between tanking, DPS, and healing on the fly is a big step up, but you have only enough points to specialize in a tree. More companions each having their own tree? Problem solved! That, and I like variety. :<

But having the bird out is kinda like power leveling, so there has to be some sort of trade off. IMO the cut the bird takes isn't too bad, it's more about how long it takes to level that makes me a bit sad.

It does take an eternity. It just doesn't feel like cutting back on my xp to level the bird is really worth it right now. Maybe when I'm level 50 everything and don't have anything else to do?

That's the problem that some people are having, when you are level 50, the bird gets very little exp, as there are no mobs of a high enough level to really give you decent exp.

The one thing I do like even at low levels with the chocobo and arc, you have a full party. Set yourself up to heal, your pt to dd, and your choco to tank, and you are all set.
