Well this morning I go to log-in and the log-in screen tells me I'm entering in the wrong password. So I go through the steps of resetting the password and it keeps saying my one-time password is incorrect. After a little searching on the web I find out that it's a common issue for the Android version of the security token to lose sync with accounts (in my case it happened right after the time change, coincidence?). Then I find out that there's an Emergency Removal Password that's needed to remove the token from my account. I've never heard about this until now.

So I'm here to make sure all of you token users are aware that there is an Emergency Removal Password and that the Android version of the security token can lose sync with your account. If you don't record this password which can be found in account management then you could end up stuck not being able to log-in on a weekend while waiting for SE's customer service to open on Monday.

They give you that emergency removal when you register the free app... They only asked you to keep that safe and it was in very bold letters.... I have it copied in a draft, notepad, notes on my phone and emailed to myself. Yet another instance of a person not paying attention.

Thanks for the warning though, might save someone the headache!

Haha! I don't remember the bold text but I'm not surprised. I was in quite a hurry when setting it up and didn't think there would be any problem with rushing through the process. Next, next, next, click the agree checkbox yeah yeah yeah whatever, let's go! Oh well, this is what I get for doing that.
